"...there is no bereavement support in her own language". People from racialised communities can encounter an array of barriers to accessing mental health services. Being unable to access support in your own language is just one of the many barriers we identified in our new research. Our report launching tomorrow examines both the mental health needs of people from racialised communities and how services can develop and evolve to better meet their needs. Be sure to keep an eye out for more 👀 #mentalhealthsupport #racialisedcommunities #mentalhealth #uk #services #voluntarysector #healthandcareservices

Mental Health Awareness Month, observed in May, serves as a vital platform for promoting understanding and dismantling the stigma associated with mental health challenges. It's an opportunity to shed light on the pervasive impact of mental illness and addiction, not only on individuals but also on families, caregivers, and society as a whole. By fostering awareness and compassion, we can create a more supportive and inclusive environment for everyone affected by these issues. It's a time to share information and resources about mental health, often using hashtags like #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth and #BreakTheStigma on social media. The main aim is to increase understanding and support for mental health and encourage individuals to prioritize their well-being. Helping your Child with Mental Issues (by Better Health Channel) * Mental health problems in children can be expressed through disruptive, angry or hyperactive (very active) behaviour or through withdrawal, worry and emotional responses. * Recognizing that your child has a mental health problem and seeking professional support are important first steps to take. * Before you consult your healthcare professional, keep a diary that describes your child’s behaviour and when and where it occurs. * Your doctor can be a good first point of contact for professional help. * It’s important to look after yourself so you can provide the best possible care for your family. Just last night, I covered an important headline where suicide is set to be decriminalized. This is long overdue if you ask me. As a mental health advocate, this is a huge step forward in changing the way we address mental health crises. Decriminalising attempted suicide will open doors to more compassionate and supportive interventions for those struggling, and I’m excited to see the changes that the new National Strategic Suicide Framework (2023-2030) has to offer💃🏾 Let’s continue advocating for mental health and creating safe spaces one conversation at a time. #RadioGirl #PsychOAP #MHConvos #MentalHealthConversations #MentalHealthAwareness
