Today marks a significant milestone in the United States' journey towards inclusivity and accessibility! 34 years ago, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was ratified, paving the way for equal rights and opportunities for all. Today, we celebrate the progress made and recommit ourselves to creating a more inclusive world where every person, regardless of ability, can thrive. #ADA #Disability #DisabilityPrideMonth #DisabilityInclusion #Accessibility

There is a need to include individuals with disabilities fully in our societies, communities, workplaces, educational institutions, etc. if we want to see everyone succeed. For example, the unemployment rates amongst people with disabilities are still much higher compared to those who do not have disabilities. #DisabilityInclusion #DisabilityRights #Inclusion #Equity #Diversity #Disability

I learned this idea when I was studying teaching special education in graduate school. I find it translates to the adult working world also. Image description: the quote in this post is described by the original poster.

34 years ago today, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law. As we reflect on the progress we have made since the passage of the ADA, it is equally important to acknowledge that there are still systemic barriers that prevent the full realization of the promises in this legislation. For instance, many employers still have biases against hiring people with disabilities. This shows that we need to do more to create a society that’s more accessible and universal to everyone, including those with disabilities. #ADA34 #ThanksToADA #DisabilityInclusion #Diversity #Accessibility #Equity #DEIA #Disability #Neurodiversity

July marks the anniversary of the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in 1990, a civil rights law that promotes the inclusion of people with disabilities in every aspect of life, including gaining access to the same employment opportunities and #benefits. People with disabilities now represent the largest and most diverse minority in the U.S. according to the CDC, with 1 in 4 adults today living with disabilities. Join us in recognizing Disability Pride Month, which celebrates people with disabilities, their identities and their contributions to society — and seeks to end the stigma associated with disability. Let's strive to ensure our nation's workplaces are inclusive and accessible to all. July is Disability Pride Month, a time to recognise and reflect on the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities in the workplace. Many of these challenges are hidden, from physical accessibility issues to biases that affect career advancement or even basic access to systems or spaces. Despite progress, there are still numerous barriers that need to be addressed and progress isn’t coming fast enough. Creating an inclusive and accessible work environment is essential for supporting colleagues with disabilities and ensuring equal opportunities for all where disability and inclusion specialists or teams act as SME and not lead the topic in separation. Covering the basics would be to start mixing sympathy with empathy as there’s too much of the former and not enough of the latter. #DisabilityPrideMonth #Inclusion #Accessibility #WorkplaceEquality

Let’s support persons with disabilities, the barriers to inclusion are still high and many. From the classroom to the workplace and beyond, let’s put an end to discrimination against persons with disabilities. Celebrating diversity, embracing diversity and uniting with diversity is something we should propagate. DISABILITY IS NOT A WEAKNESS,IT’S A STRENGTH IN DISGUISE AND A REMINDER THAT WE ARE RESILIENT. Once we start seeing persons with disabilities as part of us,that’s where I will say we are ready to create a welcoming environment and we able to break the barriers to Inclusion. Let’s start from our homes and spread through our communities.Tiny changes do have an impact, don’t minimize them. #disability awareness #disability inclusion #disability support #Acceptance #no discrimination

And the explanation is as simple as this….
Understanding Reservation! Section 34 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016 lays out provisions for a 4% reservation in jobs for persons with disabilities. Companies that proactively implement this reservation gain a first-mover advantage, tapping into a diverse talent pool that contributes to building an equitable society. #RPWDAct2016 #EqualOpportunities #InclusiveWorkplace #Disability
