At Studio 13, we’re always thinking of fresh, innovative ways to ⬆️ elevate ⬆️ iconic brands while staying true to their core values. Our latest concept dives into a redesign for iHeartMedia, one of the world’s largest media brands. We’ve explored two powerful directions for a new logo: 1. i + m + ❤️ icon: The dot of the “i” floats above the curve of an “m” shaped heart, symbolizing empowerment and confidence. 2. 🎙️Studio mics: Two recognizable podcast-style mic symbols form the shape of a heart, embodying the spirit of being heard. Both concepts use a bolder, brighter,🔥 fire-red color for the heart, adding energy and power to the brand 💪 while putting more emphasis on the foundational word, "iHeart." That and the modernized “a” in the typeface reflects a more forward-thinking identity. Loved this episode from The Follow Up by Brand New. Joe Ling, Creative Director at Koto, and Maria Garrido, CMO at Deezer, came together to talk through the recent rebrand of the the online music streaming platform. Here are my favourite takeaways: - Maria, who has agency experience, talked about the idea of garbage in, garbage out and said that it’s essential for the client to brief the agency properly if they want to get high-quality work. It was impressive to hear how she and her team did the hard work to define the brand’s objective, vision, audience, the brand principles, personality and the seeds of the brand platform. - Joe shared his tips for making the pitch process (which Koto don’t often participate in) rich and meaningful with active collaboration between client and agency teams, building chemistry, translating thinking into killer visuals, moving quickly and showing how the brand could be rolled out easily across the business with a proper system - They talked through their rationale behind behind the logo, the custom typography, the patterns and movements as well as the decision to own the colour purple - The launch of the new look happened toward the end of last year, but one of the benefits if that it’s enabled Maria and her team to ensure consistency in how the brand shows up and the story that it tells across all its customer touchpoints. They even have a Slack channel called Kill the Old Logo where employees can report places where the brand still needs to be updated. Really brilliant conversation that I took so much from. I’ve been spending the past couple months planning things out, seeing people & going to events (something I don’t normally do). There’s a lot more things that needed to be straighten out but I guess, it’s going in the right direction and whatever that have been done, I would say have passed the initial igniting the engine stage. Not everything is completed, take for example our website, it’s been live for ages but 10% of it is still hasn’t fully cooked yet. But it’s OK because we intentionally made it that way. Basically what we are saying is that, it will never ever be perfect so why not just get our audience to join the ride & see every process. So here goes—the inaugural posting. Studio HDJ is now off the shelves, dusted. We are executing all the plans that we’ve been doing. The remaining of the year will be focusing the details for 2025. We started at brisk-walking, now taking a jog and are ready to sprint. In a month time, we’ll be attending an event as the collective that we are. That, would be the “upacara perasmian” for us going out into the real world. Stay tune for more on that. SiriusXM The new brand identity for SiriusXM speaks to everyone out there and is rooted in the basic feeling of wanting to be closer to the things you love. And this I love. It's very clear that this brand understands how to attract new generations and that they take this change seriously. Lovely details in all parts of the craft (and their mascot, Stella, is my new favorite doggo, cuuute!). National Portrait Gallery A simply beautiful solution. A rebranding that supports the art and can carry a message without taking focus from six centuries of personal stories.
