https://lnkd.in/gx7Z2hDD How do you sustainably support a vibrant public space that doesn't fall into the derelict slum that has been the festival plaza since the 80s? * make the place modern, beautiful, inviting and activated. * bring in culture, public space relevant to the area suitable for pop up events and festival's, * bring in commercial and residential activity to maintain a consistent population in the area, * bring in eateries and restaurants, * bring in retail, * bring in entertainment, * showcase in the space the items that are unique to Adelaide and separate us for the other capitals, * capture the beauty of the skyline and the Torrens! * make the space a focal point of the city, you come to Adelaide you take a photo next to the 'Adelaide' neo letters (that need to be built) placed some where appropriately in the square / Torrens... I don't like ranting but come on Adelaide, how are people so short minded? This place was a disgrace to the state for decades, and no one complained? Why are we so happy to have a place that doesn't work for so long and then ridicule improvment that is clearly working! look at any other successfully activated public space in Australia or internationaly. Ask yourself, what do all these places have in common?! If you feel passionate enough to cut down someone else's proposal, try first by offering your solutions? People want all the activity and vibrancy of a working public space but don't what any of the required features that result in this very outcome?
