Looking for low-cost energy-saving upgrades for your building? If the answer is 'Yes,' then you'll want to hear about this! By replacing the steam traps in each of its units, along with upgrades to its boiler, The Cezanne, a 261-unit co-op in the West Village, was able to completely eliminate its carbon emissions penalties. Overall, the upgrades reduced the building's annual emissions by 67 metric tonnes, putting it in compliance until at least 2035. 💡 And the best part? The steam trap and boiler upgrades cost $21,550, with incentives from Con Edison covering nearly 90%! Not all schemes, due to their physical features, are able to facilitate a generator and/or solar panels for each section. In large, multi-story buildings, generators might only be viable for ground floor units – inconveniencing the other occupants. The layout of a scheme plays a crucial role, prompting trustees to carefully consider whether to permit individual owners to install their own generator or opt for one or more larger generators serving the entire scheme. Should the trustees decide to allow each individual to install their own generator, clear rules must be adopted by the scheme that state, among other things: If trustees choose to allow individual installations, the scheme must establish clear rules, addressing key aspects such as: · The permissible type of generator · The designated location for the generator · Responsibility for generator maintenance and fuel storage As a property management firm, ASI Property can do a feasibility and costs study on a single generator and/or solar panels on the roof of the scheme that could service the whole scheme. FAQ: What maintenance is required for my system? A: The only part of a solar system the average homeowner should be concerned with is the cleanliness of solar panels. Dirt, grime, dust and bird poo can build up on your panels and cause them to lose their efficiency. Also some birds may nest under the panels so mesh can be installed to ensure this doesn’t happen.
