The Benefits of Onondaga East Chamber for Local Businesses - The Impact of OEC at a Local Level A chamber's impact on the local economy can be difficult to measure. In an article .... “Most consumers (59%) think that being active in the local chamber of commerce is an effective business strategy overall. It is 29% more effective, however, for communicating to consumers that a company uses good business practices and 26% more effective for communicating that a business is reputable. If a company shows that it is highly involved in its local chamber (e.g., sits on the chamber board), consumers are 12% more likely to think that its products stack up better against its competition. When a consumer thinks that a company’s products stack up better against the competition because the company is highly involved in its local chamber of commerce, it is because he or she infers that the company is trustworthy, involved in the community, and is an industry leader. When consumers know that a restaurant franchise is a member of the chamber of commerce, they are 40% more likely to eat at the franchise in the next few months. When consumers know that an insurance company is a member of the Chamber of Commerce, they are 43% more likely to consider buying insurance from it. When consumers know that a small business is a member of the chamber of commerce, they are 44% more likely to think favorably of it and 63% more likely to purchase goods or services from the company in the future.”

I spent 48 hours over the weekend playing golf at a few of the courses at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort with a group of 8 other entrepreneurs and here are some of the takeaways that I had. 1. If you have an ineffective sales process and team, it does not matter how many or how good your leads are, you will not close deals. 2. Staying the course is hard and shiny object syndrome is real for everyone. The more you can narrow your scope of business, the greater likelihood you will have to create a cash producing machine. 3. Doing the boring stuff consistently will make you the most amount of money in the long haul. 4. Raising money is hard right now for everyone. 5. While delegation is important, removing yourself entirely from a process in your business will cause that area of your business to not produce as well as it could. Stay involved, but empower your employees. 6. Humility and speaking about your failures and losses makes you far more relatable and far more trustworthy. No one will win every time. 7. Playing golf with 20+ MPH winds on the Oregon coast is humbling. It was a great trip and I'm grateful for the new connections and friends I made who got to see me hit a few great shots and a significantly greater amount of horrible shots on the course. Commercial Director- Insurance, specialising in P&L, revenue generation and agile change management for Motor and Home Insurance
Why bother with events and conferences? I'm sure it's a question we all ask ourselves from time to time. They're expensive, they take you away from your actual work and they're often far from home. As we head towards BIBA 2024 I've been thinking about the benefits of both attending and exhibiting. I'm going, and Moneysupermarket Group will have a stand there so it's safe to assume I think it's worth it, but why? I think it comes down to three main factors: Relationship building - it's harder to see people face-to-face these days, but the benefits of actually getting together in person still far outweigh any video conferencing. Whether it's catching up with clients, partners and ex colleagues, or making new contacts, this is my number one reason to attend a conference. Learning - there's so much you can learn from just chatting to people, especially in an industry as dynamic and fast moving as ours. A conference like BIBA provides a brilliant platform to compare experiences and find out what's going on at the very cutting edge of the industry. Selling - despite everything I think this is actually the least important reason to be there. But ultimately, if the networking and learning goes well, there might well be some sales and sign ups too (and we never complain about that). Are you going to be at BIBA this year? Let me know if you are and maybe we can tick at least the first two boxes... https://lnkd.in/dy92Ychf #BIBA2024 #networking #conference #insuranceindustry

From hating sales to making sales. 14 (un)conventional principles to reduce sales anxiety. Sell without selling your soul.→ (un)selling® → the book → Now on Amazon. (website: kevincasey.ca)
The Six-Word (Un)Scholarship. * Keep scrolling and ignore this post: 1. If you unable to attend an in-person event in St. John's, NL, on Friday, May 31, 2024. 2. If you aren't the "throat to choke" for making the sales needle move for your small business or not-for-profit/ charity. Note: In my eyes, a one-person operation headquartered at a kitchen table counts every bit as much as a 100-person enterprise Still here? Alright, let's begin. 99% of scholarship applications are complicated. This one isn't. I want your best six words. And not one word more. Inspired by Ernest Hemingway, who won a bet that he could write an emotional story in a mere 6 words: 🟢 "For Sale: Baby shoes, never worn." I have a seat reserved for one person to join a sold-out, one-day intensive workshop. Fully paid. This is not a marketing campaign. I will NOT be sharing the recipient's name or organization. In this session, you will be on par with the other thirty-four humans. The details of the workshop are here: https://lnkd.in/e7yTqpGT If it sounds like the antidote for your sales anxiety, then the next part is simple but not easy. Please send me a private direct message - *no more than six words* - telling a moving story of why you need to be in this workshop. Fair warning: 7-word submissions are disqualified even if they give me goosebumps. Deadline: Thursday, May 23rd, 11 pm EST. I'll reach out privately to the best six word submission. Against All Odds: Celebrating Komb Green Solutions: “Up from the ashes, HOPE will arise” - Jonathan & Melissa Hesler Komb Green started their car wash in 2016 to give a second chance to people released from prison. Its business success was secondary to keeping young people out of crime. Through this initiative, several youth have been fully reformed and have gone on to live successful lives. Through consistency over time, its potential as a viable business showed, hence Komb Green’s decision to expand the carwash through the STEPS project. Like the other teams, this decision was validated by market research. The outlook was good: their brand was recognised; customers were receptive to market campaigns; pricing was just right. Then the setbacks came. First, the Finance Act, 2023, was passed. Fuel prices jumped and the cost of living skyrocketed, making customers reevaluate the cost of washing a boda boda. Competition also increased; they weren’t the only ones who saw its financial viability. Then the November rains came, bringing with them a new lesson - customers were not willing to wash their boda bodas if they were only going to stay clean for less than 2 minutes in the muddy area. The biggest blow came during an attack that took place on 8 December 2023 when Hesbon Mbogo, a car wash attendant was brutally murdered while on duty. The difference between those who succeed and those who don’t is their tenacity - the quality of being very determined. Several factors beyond Komb Green’s control have fought to keep them down but the team has not given up. Quite the opposite - they resumed their car wash business in January 2024 and have shared plans to address some of their challenges. They are cooperating with the authorities and we are relieved to learn that two suspects have been apprehended and charged for their alleged participation in the heinous attack. The resilience that the Komb Green team embodies will definitely pay off. PSN and Dreamtown continue standing with Komb Green to ensure that the Korogocho People’s Park keeps on thriving for the Korogocho community through this carwash

This year I've had the opportunity to host a roundtable on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at the Mobile Chamber. To kick off each meeting, we go around the horn and each attendee introduces herself or himself. Name, company, etc. I include a fun personal question so we get to know one another. The most recent question everyone answered was, "What's the best piece of business advice you've ever received?" Here is a summary of the answers: - Don't ever let anyone say you can't - You're paid to think, not do - Focus on the client and the money will come - Treat people right - If you don't laugh at your vision, it's not big enough - Let go in order to grow - Always finish what you start (someone wrapping up their doctorate of economics) - Save until it hurts (attendee retired last month) - Surround yourself with people who affirm you - Listen before you speak - Don't meet customer's expectations. Exceed them. - Don't chase the money. Chase your passion and the money will come. - Don't work for someone who wouldn't cry at your funeral - Don't be afraid to move over in order to move up - If you ever want to excel, learn the art of fundraising (non-profit executive) - Pay experts to do the expert work (tax, law for example) and focus on your business - Fake it until you make it - Take big risks in order to earn big rewards - Work hard, be a team player, and forget "That's not my job." - Never turn down any free training opportunity - Trust your gut - Have a first in, last out at work mentality - Be the best detailer you can be - Find ways to save your company money and you'll always have a job What would you add? Jordan Gerheim, Harper Hollis, Joshua Brown, Chris Curry, Matt Armbruster, William Bryant, Jr., Karyl Hanisch, Richard Sharpe, Glenda R. Snodgrass, CCP/CCA, Eddie Tarkany

Every once in a while in my line of work you get to spend time with an outstanding bunch of people, in a lovely surrounding, with plentiful fun and participation. I suppose it might have helped that directly after my training was the Christmas party!! That was me last week with the whole team at Pure Table Top - www.puretabletop.com Tanith Sellicks and Wendy Wilson invited me to spend the day sharing how to grow existing accounts through a series of very simple but powerful steps which really resonated with the group, and it was such a pleasure. Go check them out. #accountmanagement #businessdevelopment #growth #profit.

Make them stop and stare. If your #content on your #socialmedia isn’t engaging, then I’m the girl you need.
The fact of the matter is that BNI Global does NOT care about their members but are GREEDY while raising rates in absorbent fashion to make up for their loss during #Covid_19 If you JUST renewed at the “latest” raised rate of $899 they make it seem that businesses in this economy can afford another “$899” BEFORE April 1st… and try to get you to believe thst you are “saving” money when members in chapters are also paying a good amount of DUES every quarter as well. Bottom line: they only care about their pockets not the businesses that are in the organization. Another reason to ditch this organization. https://lnkd.in/e--GnN29 #truth #networking #petition
