58% of CFOs highly value the relationship with the CEO when accepting a new role. Whilst equity, compensation, and the business itself are critical factors, the CEO/CFO dynamic scored the highest in the survey. The CEO’s involvement in the hiring of a CFO should be in conjunction with the investors. It is important to let the CEO have a visible and active presence during the hiring process, affording them an opportunity to demonstrate the business culture and their own leadership style. Former Corporate Finance, Consultant, Advisor, helping businesses develop and align financial strategy with goals. Founder of Davis Financial Services
As finance moves more and more to the center of business, the collaboration between the CFO, CEO, and Board has become more crucial than ever. Over the past year, I've worked with several growing companies on strategies to center finance more within their culture. The most strategic and transparent form of finance is a consistent flow between the CFO, CEO and Board. By fostering a strong and transparent relationship with the CEO and the Board, the CFO can effectively center finance in the company’s vision and operations. Here's a brief breakdown of some of the key strategies I helped implement to facilitate effective support and execution to drive growth and ensure financial stability. From clear communication to fostering data-driven decision-making, these strategies not only enhance leadership synergy but also pave the way for sustained success. #Finance #Leadership #CFO #CEO #BusinessStrategy

In today's dynamic business environment, the role of a CFO in a PE-backed company is more critical than ever. The unique challenges and opportunities presented by PE-backed firms demand a CFO with specific expertise and experience. These candidates understand how fast-paced and performance driven PE backed environments can be and are very experienced with driving performance under pressure. A CFO with a proven track record in such settings is better equipped to handle the intense scrutiny and high expectations, driving performance improvements and operational efficiencies. To all PE firms out there, take the time to find a CFO with the right background. The success of your investment might just depend on it! #PrivateEquity #CFO #Leadership #Finance #BusinessGrowth #Strategy #ValueCreation

Resilience in Leadership: Recently, I met a CFO who joined a company believing it was EBITDA positive, only to find out it was actually EBITDA negative. Undeterred, the CFO revamped the finance team, implemented new processes, and worked tirelessly to get the company back on track. Their efforts focused on achieving EBITDA positivity, rebuilding trust with PE backers and group bankers, and successfully navigating the company towards a successful trade sale within 12 months. Unfortunately, their equity in the company turned out to be worthless. However, their resilience and determination remind us that the journey is just as important as the destination. There was no financial gain, but the lessons learned, challenges overcome, and impact made along the way are invaluable. I hear similar stories from many CFOs in my network. There always is a demand for talent that can transform businesses, especially those with skills in business change, turnaround, and exit experience. But we are certainly seeing this as a key area in experience required currently. What have your experiences been in recent roles, and how have you navigated such a journey? What would you do next time? @caminosearch #businessturnaround #privateequity #equity #changemanagement
