How often do we overlook the critical soft skill of coaching. Sports is a universal platform for honing the skills as a team member/participant as much as it is for leadership development. Business isn't always that simple... Backing up what Frank Thompson shared in this campaign - the volunteer aspect of coaching is the true stretch/give back. I - and others around me who benefited greatly - had the honor of watching Frank teach an organization the right way to address supplier diversity. 90% was coaching suppliers HOW to commit, and how to TEAM with other suppliers (Tier 2) or how to navigate the playing field (procurement and supply chain) and the other 10% was wrangling others to do the same. He built a team, created players, organized around goals and helped others rise in the contract negotiation space. And he learned to do that from someone who once invested in HIM on the field, and in the boardroom as well. We so often forget the importance of volunteer coaching... and involuntary coaching. Good reminder. #coaching #softskills #sports #youth #commitmenttoquality #teamwork
Frank coaches that the time you donate has value far beyond the sport itself. For the month of January we honor MLK Jr., and the sentiment of 'doing for others,' by sharing other’s clarity and voices across communities, around what it is they positively do to impact those around all of us. We encourage you to share now…What are YOU doing for others? Comment below. #martinlutherkingjr #clarity #mlkday #2024
Commitment and teamwork. Important to teach, harder to execute. Great post.
