This TEDMED talk given by Pediatrician Nadine Burke Harris is worth a listen. She's talking about a clinical practice; however, this conversation around "The Adverse Childhood Experiences Study" (ACES) could change how you begin to get to know and support children, teenagers (and families) in the places where you serve. Exposure to early adversity impacts so much in human development. Listen in to educate yourself / your team / your family. Grow in compassion for folks who have real neurologic reasons for behaviors and health challenges. Do you know the ACE scores of the kids/ teenagers in your ministry? How do you get to know their story? Is there a plan to help them find treatments and support? What reference tools do you use to support parents and educated them about toxic stress and the impact of ACES? I would love to know what has been helpful or worked well for you. https://lnkd.in/e6f2A6py
