Day One of our ASB Advent Series! ❄️ Today’s tip comes from partner Darren Burton with a festive opener that will be in your head all day! “Fill your head with local knowledge....Tra la la la la la la la la la! When you've been assigned a case in an area that you've previously never been to or even heard of, spend some time familiarising yourself with the locality. This can include having a look online to gain an awareness of current issues affecting the community (both good and bad), or buy a local newspaper before you're visit. This can give you a useful insight into what's happening in the respective town or city i.e. the work of charities / support agencies, neighbourhood-based projects, volunteering, crime rates, feedback from elected members, MPs etc. All of this "knowledge" can be applied to how you structure your investigation, gauge public opinion and identify key partners to engage with. It is also really useful to obtain a visible image of the property and wider street scene i.e. how close do the residents involved in the dispute live near each other; what does the alleyway or stairwell look like where people are reportedly congregating every night? Most importantly, this will help to demonstrate to the victim or complainant that you have taken an interest in where they live, get the conversation off on the right foot without appearing ignorant the surroundings and show a genuine commitment to resolving their issues.” #asb #communitysafety #socialhousing #housing

Are you MAD?    After working with charities on their IT and telecoms for a number of years, Stuart noticed a repeat problem where there was insufficient affordable housing for their service users resulting in homelessness, living in shelters, sofa surfing etc.    Let's Make a Difference (MAD) was set up to build a different social housing model where businesses, individuals, and investors could all make a positive impact on their community for generations to come.     Creating a new way of approaching the problem MAD is putting processes and assets in place that will last for generations.    But, they need our support.     Come along to our next meeting to find out how we’re all chipping in to support Stuart 😊    #ReferralMarketing #HousingCrisis

As the embargo has now been lifted we can reveal that Team Boo feature in the BACKUP North West 2025 charity calendar - can you guess the theme? 🌟We are guardians of Backup, helping them to support young people in crisis - one of a number of things we do to ensure we generate social value through our work. 💜There’s a strong sense of this kind of fellowship in Bolton. One way this manifests is in The Bolton Family 2030 which brings together business and community, working together for the good of our town. 🎄If you are looking to do some festive giving -or would even like to choose a longer term commitment - it helps to know what your core values are. It's been a year now since Contract Scotland began supporting the work of St Mark's Parish Church, following a referral by a member of our staff who was familiar with the work that Barry Hughes was doing. 🤝🏻 We've always believed in giving something back to the local community, but that had waned a little in the wake of the pandemic, and it took a challenge from staff to shove it back up the agenda. 👍🏻 We've been able to provide technical support, as they looked to build a new website to allow them to reach even more members of the Raploch community, a bit of financial support to help fund essential Christmas events and summer holiday clubs (where kids are both entertained and, more importantly, fed. We've even sent half a dozen members of staff along to help staff those events and keep the kids safe. This post, though, isn't about Contract Scotland. It's not even about St. Mark's. It's about the impact that seemingly small and not particularly expensive action can have within a local community. We've supported all manner of very worthy charities and initiatives who all do very important work over the last 3 decades, but none has had as immediate an impact as the investment of a wee bit of time and a bit of cash has had, as a result of the relationship we've developed with Barry Hughes and his team. Plenty businesses support charities and do hugely important CSR work. If you're yet to offer support to offer an organisation in the immediate vicinity of where your business is based, though, I can heartily recommend it. #StMarks #churchofscotland #RecruitmentRedefined
