It's great to see companies like Vårgrønn and Flotation Energy increasingly taking a step change approach to engaging with their Supply Chain! 😎 Such organisations have recognised Suppliers have deep expertise in their core domains that they as Developers can gleen great value from. As more organisations conduct themselves in such a manner, it's also setting the bar for other End Users / Developers to follow suit. These End Users / Developers, and also EPCs, are recognising the numerous benefits this early engagement delivers to them as they develop new and often innovative projects in the Energy Transition space, across topics including but not limited to conceptual design, system modelling, contractual models, standardisation, technology selection and schedule / delivery risks. Needless to say, it is these projects where Suppliers are engaged early that also end up being highest priority to those same Suppliers, which undoubtedly links to level of optimisation that becomes achievable! 👍 In 2023 Simon Wynne and I spoke Stuart R Broadley HonFEI of EIC (Energy Industries Council) for their Survive and Thrive publication (link in comments - pages 46-47), about how organisations must work together in Energy Transition. The article published last week, and linked below, by Stephen Bull OBE, reminded me that we're all increasingly seeing such engagement in real life action!
“Our approach here is we would like to get the best ideas from the supply chain," says Stephen Bull OBE, chief executive officer of Vårgrønn. Get the full story here: https://lnkd.in/eGVdRyis

Perhaps the most important evolution of 20th and very early 21st century markets was the containerization revolution that greatly reduced the friction of distance. Now, such evolution continues stateside.
Container handling capability at Burns Harbor in Northwest Indiana has the potential to transform supply chains throughout the Midwest. Purdue University Daniels School of Business supply chain expert Amy David notes shippers will have more options and can likely reduce freight costs, a plus for small- and mid-sized businesses in particular. My reporting on supply chain resilience for Virginia Economic Development Partnership. “One of the big problems with creating a resilient supply chain is that it’s not necessarily an efficient supply chain,” says Gary La Point, professor of supply chain practice at the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University, and a go-to of mine for supply chain expertise. In other words, resilience comes at a cost. But here are some ideas on how to strike the right balance. https://lnkd.in/eAHw8TKp #supplychainexpertise #syracuseuniversity #supplychain
