Qube's equity analysts have been locked in battle with each other for the better part of the summer. To spur the student equity analysts with a fresh wave of ambition, the office had a friendly competition. Points were assigned for tasks and, every week, the analysts would check in on a leaderboard. What was the prize? The coveted position of Student Lead: responsible for organizing social activities and keeping fellow analysts on top of housekeeping tasks. So, congrats, Travis! Travis pitched a company that landed in the portfolio and did a ton of early-phase research to get awarded the position. In addition, Travis and the others spent a great deal of time rebalancing households this summer which is important for returning each individual portfolio to its target strategic asset allocation. Fine-tuning portfolios to fit individual client risk, return, and liquidity needs is a critical aspect of portfolio management. Well done! #success #investors #stocks #equity

Unlocking Market Insights: Workshop on RSI and Portfolio Analysis On Thursday, July 11, I had the privilege of conducting another Technical Analysis Workshop for our summer intern cohort. We focused on the Relative Strength Index (RSI) and analyzing and comparing investment portfolios. Key Takeaways on RSI - Calculation: RSI is calculated using the formula RSI = 100 − (100 / (1 + RS)), where RS (Relative Strength) is the average of 'n' days' up closes divided by the average of 'n' days' down closes. The default period for RSI calculation is 14 days. Overbought and Oversold Levels: An RSI above 70 suggests a market is overbought, indicating a potential price reversal or pullback, while an RSI below 30 indicates an oversold market, suggesting a potential price increase or bounce. Usage: RSI helps identify trend strength. An RSI above 50 generally indicates an uptrend, while below 50 indicates a downtrend. Divergences and Convergences: While using the overbought and oversold indicators is useful, incorporating divergences and convergences between RSI and price action provides even more powerful predictive tools. Divergences can signal potential reversals, while convergences can indicate and confirm the strength of a trend. Sharing these insights was an enriching experience, reinforcing the importance of continuous learning and the value of technical analysis in portfolio management.
