What is the difference between a Tier 1 university and Ivy League you ask? Here's the answer: The term 'Ivy League' was formalised in 1954 during a Division I athletics conference, initially influenced more by exceptional basketball teams than rigorous academic standards. It consists of eight prestigious private universities in the northeastern United States: Harvard University, Yale University, Princeton University, Brown University, Columbia University, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, and the University of Pennsylvania. In contrast, Tier 1 classification follows a more contemporary approach. Some classify universities into five tiers based on admission difficulty – with Tier 1 including schools with an acceptance rate under 10% – and others, like The New York Times, adopt a four-tier system based on university type. Hats off to Becky Quick for asking a basic question related to college affordability 3 different ways to Sylvia Burwell the President of American University. Why 3x’s? She won’t answer the question. Good news, if you had Value Propisition as they key word in your drinking game, your taking a shot 8xs. No industry has raised prices over decades more than higher education. When a question like: How did Mitch Daniels manage to do it over a decade and other universities can’t? Crickets from all other presidents. Enough is enough with higher education price escalation. If we’d like to talk “value proposition” fine. Let’s compare the ROI of college today vs decades ago. It’s nowhere close. Why? Tuition increases at the top of the list.
