Here's how: 🌞 Investing in students: CAPS provides paid training and internships for student leaders to champion climate action projects in their schools. 🏫 Multi-faceted projects: Students lead diverse projects addressing environmental challenges specific to their schools and communities, from building decarbonization to sustainable transportation & zero waste initiatives. 💡 Building sustainable futures: Students foster healthier and safer schools & communities while gaining the skills and experience needed to launch careers in sustainability. 📈 Impact: The results speak for themselves. In just one school district, students reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 28%, unlocked $850K in savings, & secured $20M in sustainability improvements in just two years. Calling all college students! If you want to lead an interesting, rewarding, and fulfilling life, there’s nowhere better to do it than as part of the climate movement. The opportunity surrounding the clean energy transition has never been greater  – if you are starting your career, consider working in a climate-forward role. Here are a few ways to get started: First, you can check out climate job boards and programs searching to train the next generation of clean energy leaders, such as this internship program from Elemental Excelerator: https://lnkd.in/dGMPYQ7k The Biden-Harris administration has also made this a focus with the newly created American Climate Corps, which aims to provide the next generation the skills they need to succeed in tomorrow’s climate economy: https://www.acc.gov/ Already have a career path in mind? In most cases—whether you’re just starting out or making a pivot—it’s possible to do what you love, and what you do well, as a full-time member of the climate movement. If you’re a marketing executive, work for a company in cleantech. If you’re a teacher, build climate into your lesson plans and make sure your students understand the opportunities in cleantech as they consider their future careers. If you’re in sales, help sell products that reduce carbon pollution. Regardless of how you choose to embrace your role as a climate person, there are opportunities that will fit your skillset and lifestyle.

It’s Green Careers Week, a time to raise aspirations, support diversity, challenge stereotypes, and promote real opportunities for young people to have a career that will genuinely make a difference. A green career can be any job, role or occupation that contributes to preserving or restoring the environment and our planet. It can be any industry, not just those seen as ‘green.’ At MK College Group, we’ve recently taken a big step in supporting our local communities with developing skills for a more sustainable future with the launch of our Green Skills Centre. The centre will initially offer courses specifically aimed at existing professionals, but we will be involving learners from other courses where we can and are hoping to expand what we offer in the future. Our commitment to delivering Fairer Futures isn’t just about our learners, colleagues and those in our wider communities – it’s also about building a better future for our planet. The clean energy sector is booming, adding over 22,000 jobs in 2022 alone. However, there’s a pressing need for increased diversity and inclusion in this rapidly growing field. A recent blog post by net.America & ICF highlights the challenges historically underprivileged communities and women face in accessing these green jobs. It emphasizes the importance of intentional outreach to women, communities of color, and youth, especially those from historically underrepresented communities. Registered Apprenticeship (RA) Programs are identified as an effective recruitment strategy to increase the talent pool. These programs offer a pipeline of workers in this career path and effectively prepare them for On-the-Job Learning and Related Technical Instruction. Unlock a Better Future Rewired Cities, a flagship initiative of Rewired Earth, is all about giving citizens a real voice and the power to shape the communities they want to live in. One of our main focuses is university students – the changemakers of tomorrow. Last term, in partnership with the University of Sussex here in the UK, we challenged teams on the Leadership Course to tackle a local sustainability issue and develop an innovative business solution. On December 5th, the teams took their ideas to the big stage, presenting to a panel of politicians and business leaders at the House of Lords. Two winning teams delivered standout pitches. One aimed to inspire more women into sport, while the other proposed mapping vintage outlets in Brighton and rewarding those who shop sustainably. Alongside a cash prize, both teams earned internships with one of our constellation partners – a step towards unlocking a better future for themselves. So, what did we learn? 🌏 Young people are far more committed to building a sustainable future than they’re often given credit for. 🌎 A genuine value exchange is vital if you want deep engagement – offering students meaningful opportunities made all the difference. 🌍 Acting as a bridge between citizens, businesses, and government creates valuable collaboration for all parties and across all ages and experiences. 🌍 Close partnerships with universities are crucial. The support we received from the University of Sussex was phenomenal. Our goal is to craft a blueprint that can scale to universities across the UK and beyond in 2025, empowering hundreds of thousands of students to actively shape the world they want to live in. Encourage girls to explore Green & Sustainability focused career options was the topic of yesterday’s event at St Swithun’s School, one of the leading independent girls schools in England. Among professionals working in these domains, we volunteered to answer questions from the sixth form college girls of how our careers evolved, what were the highlights, core experiences and moreover what are the ingredients to be successful in such career path. https://lnkd.in/e-inU7mT

I'm excited to share my first post on Linkedin! I recently joined the World Bank Group Korea Green Growth Trust Fund (KGGTF) as an intern, where I am gaining hands-on experience in sustainable development, international cooperation, and green growth. The World Bank Group Korea Green Growth Trust Fund (KGGTF), a partnership between the World Bank and the Republic of Korea, plays a crucial role in advancing the World Bank’s vision of creating "a World Free of Poverty on a Livable Planet." Since its inception in 2012, KGGTF has been a technology-driven and implementation-focused trust fund, supporting partner countries in developing innovative and sustainable solutions, strategies, and investments geared towards Green, Resilient, and Inclusive Development (GRID). To date, KGGTF has supported 237 green growth programs and activities worldwide, mobilizing approximately $129 million, with linkages to over $24 billion in World Bank Group lending and external co-financing. During my internship, I am contributing to: ✅ Communication & Outreach (C&O) Team - Developing and drafting grant summaries that serve as preliminary content for newsletters, reports, and other communications. ✅ Urban Sector Portfolio book - Analyzing 12 years of KGGTF-funded programs in Urban, Land, and Rural development, contributing to the development of a comprehensive sectoral portfolio book. Recently, I wrote an article summarizing key insights from Dr. Jiyon Shin's lecture, "Green Growth: What, Why & Its Trends," which was part of the lectures during the 2nd KGGTF Youth Internship Kickoff event.
