Browning the Green Space (BGS) is a Massachusetts-based nonprofit coalition dedicated to advancing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in clean energy and climate technology. Our vision is a just energy transition that prioritizes Black and Brown communities by addressing systemic inequities at the intersection of social, environmental, and economic justice. Our mission is threefold: we are creating meaningful career opportunities through programs like the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) Student Internship Program Success (SIPS) Program where we have recruited and placed over 90 Black and Brown students into clean energy internships, our Accelerating Contractors of Color in Energy for Sustainable Success (ACCESS) Contractor Bootcamp where we have trained over 47 aspiring contractors of color on how to launch a clean energy business, and reducing energy burden through initiatives like the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Community Local Energy Action Program (LEAP) focused on the community of Lawrence, MA (the quintessential environmental justice community in Massachusetts) - all while closing the racial wealth gap and making significant strides in combating climate change. By removing barriers and expanding access to clean energy solutions, BGS is transforming the energy sector into a powerful engine for equity and sustainable progress. Over the past few years we have grown our Coalition Member community to more than 60 organizations committed to actively working towards equity and justice within their companies and throughout the sector. This Giving Tuesday, join us in driving change. Your support fuels our work to empower communities, fight climate change, and build a more equitable, sustainable future. Together, we can make an impact… Please check out our updated website that gives more details on how we have been working to ensure urgency meets equity during this energy transition and how you can get involved by donating to, partnering with, and/or joining our coalition! https://lnkd.in/eMMwESEY
