There are two alternative perspectives on what this chart means: either uranium and nuclear power plants are a terrific investment, or AI will have a great deal less impact on the future of ordinary people than is currently believed. Do you have any idea how much it costs to build a nuclear power plant? No...? Well, nobody else does either. The costs are astronomical and uncapped and they rise every time a design is discussed. And that's another thing...there is no current "design" and the design models under discussion are not considered the "final" approach as the preferred, safer approach (including a sarcophagus in the event of a compromise or meltdown) has never been finalized. The silver lining is that the concerns of how AI would cause the robots to take control of us or kill us off are likely wildly overstated. The robots can't afford it, either. 😎

Eventually, if we make it that far, we're gonna want a 1+ TW AI cluster. If we decomissioned all nuclear weapons and converted the fissile material into a fuel stock for power plants that also magically appeared, that would be enough to feed that cluster for 1.36 years. We need all the energy we can getr as soon as possible and then smarter and smarter and smarter ways to access more and more of it. If we don't figure it out, I'm sure the robots will. Let's make sure to have enough food for our guests. To paraphrase Buckminster Fuller, "Most fighting comes from there not being enough of something to go around for everyone who would like to have it." We've had a century to see what humans are willing to do in order to access secure, abundant power sources. What do you think the AI-brained robots may do when they need more of it? The numbers for this analysis were written by a useful AI. I have no idea if they are right, but it's at the very least directionally valid. #nuclear #solar #spacebasedsolarpower #agi #asi #kardashev https://lnkd.in/g8siFtfG

Apparently we are just at the tip of AI usage. And companies like Microsoft are buying nuclear plants, or all of the power they can produce. So how do I know my lights are going to come on in a couple of years when AI usage is really ramped up by all the companies and organizations who say they are moving rapidly to AI? There is no way the utilities can upgrade fast enough to satisfy the AI usage and turn on my lights or heat. So who gets the power, me or AI?

🔍 Ever wondered how nuclear waste is stored safely? The answer may be more robotic than you think. The ANYbotics autonomous robot, #ANYmal, inspects nuclear waste storage facilities by navigating complex environments without human intervention. 📊 Data is king, especially when it comes to nuclear storage. ANYmal provides precise data on storage conditions. This continuous monitoring is crucial for maintaining the safety of nuclear waste storage facilities and reduces the risk of human error. ⚙️ Efficiency meets safety. ANYmal operates 365 days a year without fatigue, minimizing the need for human intervention. This increases efficiency and significantly reduces human exposure to radiation, making the entire process safer. Nagra recently published an article on the use cases for ANYmal in challenging conditions below the surface. The AI revolution is driving a resurgence in small nuclear power plants. The AI revolution is driving acceleration in the advanced materials space where the search is on for the ideal materials to realize reverse photosynthesis which has the potential to transform what we mean by solar power. It seems that the path we seek may be through. I am wary of the challenges, but radically optimistic about the possibilities. https://lnkd.in/gyw_6ZAw #AI #artificialintelligence

Wow, it's truly fascinating to see how technology is revolutionizing the field of nuclear waste storage! The ANYmal robot seems like a game-changer in ensuring the safety and efficiency of these facilities. ANYbotics Continuous monitoring provided by ANYmal not only helps maintain the safety of nuclear waste storage facilities but also mitigates the risk of human error. With its ability to navigate complex environments autonomously, ANYmal provides precise data on storage conditions, making data-driven decisions possible. Furthermore, the fact that ANYmal operates tirelessly throughout the year without fatigue minimizes the need for human intervention. This not only increases efficiency but also significantly reduces human exposure to radiation, improving overall safety. Kudos to Nagra for shedding light on these remarkable use cases for ANYmal in challenging conditions below the surface. I'm eager to read their article and learn more about how this technology is transforming nuclear waste management. It's impressive to witness robotics and automated inspections playing such a crucial role in ensuring the optimal storage and handling of nuclear waste.

How can AI help investors you ask? Below is an analysis I put together in minutes that would have been impossible previously. Here I have Nomad Data's AI create a dataset of US companies who said they were exploring nuclear power as an option to power AI Data Centers. It read nearly 25,000 transcripts in three minutes and produced this data showing how many companies are seeing nuclear power being considered. This rise precedes the run up in nuclear stocks by 1-2 quarters and is based on companies across many industries. The future is in letting investors generate their own datasets on the fly without a line of code.
