This is such an important report. Thanks you to Prostate Cancer Research and Deloitte for bringing this together! Did you know that prostate cancer is simply not screened anywhere? The reason? Lack of a good test with a low false positive rate. Any screening tool should ensure that you don't send the majority of the tested population to get further medical tests for nothing. #MRI has the capacity to fill up this gap, but will require careful #calibration to ensure comparable measurements across scanners. Breast cancer risk associated with BRCA1 and BRCA2 pathogenic variants in the Eastern Chinese population. A new #CancerPathogenesisAndTherapy study reveals the penetrance of #BreastCancer to be 22.5% and 18.2% in #BRCA1 and #BRCA2 #carriers, respectively, in #EasternChina, indicating that #ProphylacticMastectomy is probably unnecessary for them. The researchers proposed using the FRAIL Scale modified to include an extra item on time since completion of cancer treatment and a cut-off of 2 or higher to assess frailty in older adult cancer survivors. NCCS has joined 28 organizations in expressing serious concern to Humana and CMS about restrictive coverage policies for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treatment. Humana’s policy deviates from the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines, creating barriers to care for patients. We urge Humana to prioritize shared decision-making between patients and their doctors and align their policies with established clinical guidelines.
