Getting to speak with others about the military transition process is a powerful thing. Yesterday, I was invited to speak at a TAP workshop with our local Coast Guard members. Mind you, I do not represent any company or program currently. I am on my own career search. However, the TAP Manager, Tracey Arrington, invited me to come in and gave me an hour to speak about what is important and share information and resources with the group. I share with them my failures. I talk about the things I wish someone would have told me in my TAP class. I speak about what matters. Talk about the questions I am constantly being asked and hearing. I give them information that they do not even know how to ask about yet. I answer their questions and make myself available to them so as they develop questions they can reach out. Tracey asks me to come and speak with them because she sees the value in me and what I do. What an amazing thing that is. See the value that you can share with others in our community. Then find a way to assist them. #military #veterans #militaryspouse #militarytransition #conversations #storytelling #mentorship #veteranshelpingveterans #BruceTalk
Bruce Thompson, MBA that's a great way to put it. Giving feedback from those who have gone before upcoming class, can have a profound affect. That's how we help our transitioning military.
Perfect statement you made; “I give them information that they do not even know how to ask about yet.” Thank you for sharing your experience with those in TAP.
Bruce Thompson, MBA You rock Marine. Thanks for supporting my shipmates in the U.S. Coast Guard Semper Fi and Semper Paratus!
Tracey Arrington, What a thoughtful addition to you TAP program! Having Bruce Thompson, speak for an hour is probably as valuable as the rest of the sessions combined!
That's a great opportunity! It's a powerful moment when you can share the good, the bad, and the ugly about the military to civilian transition experience.
Thanks Bruce. I find it amazing as I do transition work with our businesses the same is true. Once the non vets know the struggles the gap closes and they can better create an environment for us to thrive...our Vet READY program is working it just takes people like you to make it happen...thanks to you
Congratulations 🎉🎉

7moI think it’s important for transitioning military to hear from veterans who don’t have any agenda other than to share their own failures and successes. I’m sure you provided insights that they could not get from another organization or company.
