Non-Profit Executive / Community Builder / Advisor / Challenge Solver / Veteran & Military Spouse Advocate / Marine Corps Veteran

Getting to speak with others about the military transition process is a powerful thing. Yesterday, I was invited to speak at a TAP workshop with our local Coast Guard members. Mind you, I do not represent any company or program currently. I am on my own career search. However, the TAP Manager, Tracey Arrington, invited me to come in and gave me an hour to speak about what is important and share information and resources with the group. I share with them my failures. I talk about the things I wish someone would have told me in my TAP class. I speak about what matters. Talk about the questions I am constantly being asked and hearing. I give them information that they do not even know how to ask about yet. I answer their questions and make myself available to them so as they develop questions they can reach out. Tracey asks me to come and speak with them because she sees the value in me and what I do. What an amazing thing that is. See the value that you can share with others in our community. Then find a way to assist them. #military #veterans #militaryspouse #militarytransition #conversations #storytelling #mentorship #veteranshelpingveterans #BruceTalk

I think it’s important for transitioning military to hear from veterans who don’t have any agenda other than to share their own failures and successes. I’m sure you provided insights that they could not get from another organization or company.

Bruce Thompson, MBA that's a great way to put it. Giving feedback from those who have gone before upcoming class, can have a profound affect. That's how we help our transitioning military.

Perfect statement you made; “I give them information that they do not even know how to ask about yet.” Thank you for sharing your experience with those in TAP.

That's a great opportunity! It's a powerful moment when you can share the good, the bad, and the ugly about the military to civilian transition experience.
