Hemophilia is a blood disease where clotting doesn’t function well, causing excessive bleeding that can be disabling or life-threatening. It’s caused by deficiencies in clotting factors: factor VIII for hemophilia A and factor IX for hemophilia B (B is the rarer form). Hemophilia is treated by infusing the missing clotting factors 1 or more times per week. However, about 1/3 of patients develop neutralizing antibodies called inhibitors that stop the medicine from working. Instead of replacing clotting factors to restore clotting, marstacimab blocks a natural anticoagulant to "rebalance" the equilibrium between coagulation and anticoagulation. As a result, this medicine could be useful in people with hemophilia A or B and with inhibitors. These sorts of innovations are why I love signaling cascades, especially when we see in practice how we can target different parts to bypass the pathobiological basis for a genetic or acquired disease. #medicine #hemophilia #coagulation #biologics #clotting

The HCPprofiler Standard Qualification Report validates HCPprofiler kit for precise identification and quantification of Host Cell Proteins (HCPs) using LC-MS/MS. The report confirms: Scope: The HCPprofiler combines a peptide-coated bead standard and proprietary software to generate calibration curves for HCP quantification. Validation: The method demonstrates strong specificity, accuracy, precision, and robustness, adhering to ICH Q2(R2) guidelines. Validation covers a broad working range (1-500 fmol), with high linearity (R² ≥ 0.90), accuracy (82%-119%), and repeatability (CVs ≤ 15%). Reproducibility: Tested across batches, instruments, and labs, showing CVs ≤ 21%. Application: Successfully quantifies HCPs in therapeutic peptide drug substances with high repeatability.
