Like many school districts across the U.S., Cleveland Metropolitan School District is digitizing their learning architecture for the modern age while trying to mitigate mounting cyber threats with limited personnel and budget. The K-12 school district, whose IT department is led by CIO Curtis Timmons, serves 7,500 employees and 36,000 students. On an average day, maintaining the operational and security needs of all those individuals and their various endpoints, including laptops, tablets, and phones, would be difficult enough. But, in addition, the district moved to a cloud-first environment, maintains an "always on" learning environment that sees students and faculty utilizing the network at all hours from remote locations, and threat actors are always lurking in the shadows. I am excited to share that as the “1st and only comprehensive, on-device" MOBILE SECURITY solution for iOS, Android and Chromebooks enhanced by MACHINE LEARNING, Zimperium Mobile Threat Defense (MTD) has been named the winner in the 2023 Campus Safety Magazine BEST Awards in the ‘Internet Safety’ category. As Educational Institutions continue to shift to support MOBILE DEVICES, digital and eLearning platforms to lower the cost of education for students, the usage of Mobile Devices for students, staff and library patrons will continue to increase. Increased dependency on mobile devices has exposed the weakness of security on these devices. SAFE ACCESS is a digital right.
