On Monday, I defended my Master of Environment thesis that used human dimensions to better understand values and attitudes toward Canada geese, and acceptability of lethal population management. Now I get to join the ranks of amazing people like Monica Engel and Valli F. applying human dimensions to wildlife and natural resource issues!

As founder of the Center for Sea Rise Solutions and candidate for CA Lieutenant Governor, I'm thrilled to see this critical issue gaining traction at the UN level. The collapse of the "Double Arch" in southern Utah highlights the delicate balance between time, nature, and preservation. While this geological event is a natural process, it serves as a powerful reminder of the need for ongoing efforts to study and protect our natural landmarks. This issue has been a topic of conversation and series of studies. I am glad that it is finally gaining traction at leaders level in the United Nations. What our workshop showed was that there are steps that can and must be taken at local, regional, national and global levels to alleviate suffering and build resilience as we redouble our efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase carbon dioxide removal and strengthen both MRV and eMRV systems. Financing for all this is key and we earnestly hope that the climate COP29 billed as "finance COP" will live up to the expectations. 📝 New publication by Georg Winkel and colleagues about wildfire resilience and communities in the Mediterranean context. 💡 While the socioecological nature of wildfires is increasingly being acknowledged within the scientific literature, the examination of wildfire-related problems in relation to broader territorial development drivers remains underexamined. In this article, an alternative framing of the wildfire problem is suggested, referred to as a territorial framing.
