Why is there no transparency by Marriott, Loews, Hilton, Hyatt etc. relating to the hiring process? In no other industry do I see this level of noncommunication to applicants. They give no feedback at all except a degrading message that they "moved on without you." They require tests for applicants to take but never give any results and no feedback just that degrading "moving on without you" message. There should be more transparency particularly in light of broad age discrimination by the hospitality industry. We should demand more m transparency like we do in other professions. Hint lawyers.

Showing Hospitality, what can you do? - Actively listen: Don't start planning your next statement. Instead, listen to what's being shared, pay attention to body language and tone, and repeat back your understanding of what your Coheart said and feels to ensure you're on the same page. - It's a journey together: Share each others' ideas and big dreams. Whiteboard out all possibilities and talk through each one. Share in failures as much as successes and lessons learned. Hold each other up in tough moments and celebrate in the small and big wins. - Be inclusive: A lot of times, we easily get engrossed in our own projects and issues and forget to look beyond our current state. Take a step back and make sure you're including all the right People. Don't let titles or areas of expertise scare you. Learn from each other and bring your perspectives to the table. Include everyone in perspective sharing and reflect on how that perspective can help change or shape your own understanding. - Assume positive intent: Now, how many times have you been attending a meeting and certain personalities or behaviors show up and you "knew this would happen" and the meeting goes nowhere? Do some self-reflection and get an understanding on why you're feeling this way about certain People as well as how you can use the #moodelevator to reset yourself to at least be curious. You may miss some important details and information if you assume the other party may be disengaged. Find ways to ask open-ended, non-biased questions to help them explain and express their ideas, frustrations, etc. This will help you come to the table assuming positive intent and ready to engage by seeking to understand their vantage point and experiences. - Give time: Just be with People. Listen to them. Eat with them. Joke with them. Build a community of Belonging. The greatest gift you can give someone else to show Hospitality is your time.
