"Run your own race" One of my favorite messages in the Australian kids' show Bluey is "Run your own race." I often use this phrase to encourage my 5-year-old daughter when she compares herself to her friends. Recently, I came across an interview with an Australian Olympic bronze medalist that beautifully expands on this idea. She said: "It's a careful balance of wanting that medal but not needing it... Not needing it for your own self-worth... but wanting it, saying 'Yeah, let's give it a crack and be tough, and if it doesn't happen, the sun will rise tomorrow, but let's give it a go.'" Her words resonated deeply. In our professional lives, it's so easy to get tangled up mentally when we compare ourselves to others or cling to a rigid definition of success. I find this a powerful reminder that our profession, like sport, "...is about community, a sense of belonging, making friends, and…learning amazing life skills like dedication and leadership." In the end, success isn't just about the medal, promotion, or sale—it's about daring to step onto the field and "give it a go." #ProfessionalGrowth #WorkLifeBalance #LeadershipLessons https://lnkd.in/gQGMq2aa

There always two sides to a coin – or should we say a gold medal? We invited two Olympian rowers, Aisyah Rafaee, M.S., OLY. and Matthew Brittain, to join us for our 20 Conversation series on “Winning”. As we got deeper into the conversation, it became clear that although both shared a passion for rowing as their chosen sport, the two Olympians had very different approaches to success. Aisyah forged her path to the Olympics solo with just her coach, while Matt plotted his path to Gold medal success at the London Olympics with 3 other guys as part of a team – and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The two also had different approaches to dealing with what came after, and as Aisyah puts it, “the worst period of her life”. For Aisyah, she consulted a mental health coach to separate her “human” and “athlete” identities, while Matt set sights on the next big goal, and on being an inspiration for other athletes on what can be possible. Moderated by Stephen Davies, we were able to listen to an inspiring conversation with two world-class athletes, who told us how it all started, the good days and the bad along the way, and the coping strategies they used to deal with the high level of pressure on their journeys to compete against the best in the world. Watch the summary video to gain an Olympian mindset! #rowing #olympian #mindset #winning

Very interesting to see the two different approaches to conquering odds that most would see as insurmountable... in common underlying were critical aspects like ... goals setting and achievement, the support network involving coaching and vision

How you react when things aren’t going your way is arguably more important than when they are. 🎥 elevatemindset.co In life, all of us have to deal with setbacks in some way, shape or form. It’s about how we deal with adversity that separates the champions from the rest of the pack. “The greatest glory in living lies not in never failing, but in rising every time we fall” - Nelson Mandela Keep moving forward, no matter the setbacks and you will soon see your rise happen in front of your eyes. #sportsmindjunior #mindsetmatters #championmindset #youthathletes #athletes #running #mentalresilience #believe #emotionalresilience #parentsofathletes

At BLACKBELT MENTALITY, we are committed to excellence! Our mission is to empower athletes to achieve peak performance in their sport while also building the mental strength and resilience to thrive in all aspects of life. That's why we continuously seek to elevate our programs by learning from the best. Recently, Michala Maly had the privilege of connecting with Ruby Pass (17), a competitive gymnast who represented Australia at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Michala took the opportunity to dive into Ruby's mental game, exploring how she manages nerves and those pre-routine flutters when they start to creep in. Ruby replied: "I get very nervous sometimes. But then, I trust that I've done the work. I know my numbers." If you want to perform on the world's stage, preparation is key. Therefore, if you support an aspiring athlete - be it as a parent, coach, or member of a sports club - get in touch with us today. Together, we will assess where they are and discover strategies to elevate their mental game and performance. #mindset #mentaltraining #confidence #mentaltoughness #performance #athletemindset #athlete #Olympian #Australia #blackbeltmentality #nerves #performanceanxiety #gymnastics #gymnast

Stephen Nedoroscik rose to fame as one of the most interesting athletes at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Unlike most competitive gymnasts, Nedoroscik isn't an all-around athlete. He only competes in one event - the pommel horse. We've learned a lot from Nedoroscik's precision and his singular focus: 🏅Mastery Through Specialization By dedicating himself entirely to one event, Nedoroscik was able to refine his techniques to an elite level, demonstrating that deep, focused practice in a specific area can lead to mastery. 🏅Overcoming Setbacks With Focus Nedoroscik's unwavering focus on one specialty allowed him to push through difficulties and setbacks that he faced along the way without the distractions that other gymnasts face from multiple events. 🏅Innovation Within Boundaries Even within the narrow focus of the pommel horse, Nedoroscik constantly finds ways to innovate and improve. His creativity in developing new combinations is a stark reminder that even in specialized fields, there is always room for innovation, new ideas, and success. As a company committed to innovation, we commend Nedoroscik on his achievements and thank him for inspiring us to stay focused.

Sinner won the grand slam after an initial overpowering by his opponent, Medvedev in the first 2 sets. He pushed and came back to win it, Medvedev fought hard through to set 5 and only accepted defeat at the end, he did so graciously with utmost respect for the game. There were so many lessons from this year's Australian Open: -How does pressure affect performance? -What does it take to have a winners mindset? -When do take control over our emotions? It was thrilling watching the pinnacle of tennis, the confluence of talent, passion and discipline. These factors apply to how we approach our work, understanding what drives us, being composed under immense stress and always giving it our 100% even if the odds are against us, to never give up and always believe in ourselves is how we surpass our goals. When we are able to shake off the fear, negative self talk and criticism we hit a turning point, one where our actions are propelled by doing our best and enjoying the work, it's the flow state, where we are fully present and can accept the results because we gave it our all. Next time you're lacking motivation ask yourself, will I be ok with what happens knowing that I have more to give? If you are feeling burnt out ask yourself, will I be ok with what happens knowing that I gave more than I had? Success lies in balance, recovery is part of resilience. #passion #mindsetmastery #karmayoga #AO2024
