This is an old version of the Nuclear Emergency Operation Facility regulation(NURGE-0696) before the Fukushima Nuclear Accident. Since the event happened, there should be an updated version, and each nuclear power plant operating country has updated the Anti-Seismic regulations. But how about North America, if a new design under processing. It's hard to find the latest design criteria that describe these methods online. Who could help?

A global group of 11 companies with a common interest in developing nuclear energy solutions for the maritime sector have launched Nuclear Energy Maritime Organization (NEMO). Mamdouh el-Shanawany, former head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Safety Assessment Section, is NEMOs inaugural chairman. Nuclear propulsion has many advantages over traditional propulsion: it is zero emissions, takes almost no space in the vessel, at a cruise speed of 50 knots it provides faster service compared to the typical maximum of 32 knots of conventional vessels. On top of that, it can sell power to ports while docked, providing an extra source of revenue. If you are concerned about cost, radioactive material security, or vessel safety, you can learn here https://lnkd.in/g_Ze6vvb why those are not an issue taking into account the current technology.

Being a nuclear safety regulator is a hard job. They make hard decisions that sometimes make no one happy and have to take stands that can be unpopular. But while being popular isn’t necessary to be an effective regulator, being trusted is essential. Without trust, a regulator’s decisions lose authority and credibility. While ‘trust’ is a straightforward term, experience teaches us that the manner in which #nuclearsafety regulators earn and keep that trust is complex. This is why an international group of experts spent more than two years analyzing this elusive attribute. Their conclusions are captured in the NEA report “Characteristics of a Trusted Nuclear Regulator”. I recently discussed the importance of trust for nuclear regulators in an interview with NucNet following the launch of this report. You can find the article here: https://lnkd.in/dM5A7qPQ

Does the Centre for Independent Studies believe in freedom? It doesn't look like it. CIS on manufacturing: No industry policy because planning is socialism! CIS on nuclear: The government should plan industry policy for nuclear power! The Centre for Independent Studies seems to think that only government planning can fund their fantastical ideology. We can only conclude that the CIS is a socialist organisation. https://lnkd.in/gk7Krq-E
