Uterus transplants are responsible for the birth of more than 70 children. Nearly a third of those babies—22 and counting—were born at Baylor University Medical Center. Giuliano Testa, chief of abdominal transplant at Baylor University Medical Center, and his team recently published a major study analyzing the results from the program’s first 20 patients. “We want this to be an option for all women out there that need it,” said Liza Johannesson, the medical director of uterus transplants.

Here is a bit of self-promotion. My paper which is the culmination of 3 years of my postdoc work at MGH is out now! https://lnkd.in/dUheEPGH Outside of the obvious delayed gratification this publication provides me, it highlights an unmet medical need for better detection and diagnosis of intraventricular hemorrhage (bleeding in ventricles) in premature babies.

BELOW THE BELT is a hard hitting movie about American women who suffer from Endometrosis. As a woman who was lucky. Yes lucky to get my symptoms diagnosed and recognised, to women that have had new diagnoisis , to women who have known about their diagnoisis and undergone surgical and pharmaceutical treatments offered. Times are changing, first time I attended public forum where Endometrosis was entire topic of conversation, to noticing how many women from young teens to ladies from each decade represented. In addition. Womem were supported by their partners. Endometrosis impacts so many of us in so many ways from our relationships, and navigating oureveryday lives. The film brings a much needed personal and relatable perspective to a disease that affects so many women around the world, but that still lacks key awareness and education. It was the first time. Myself and young daughter (both of us have Endometriosis) felt awe struck to personally witness what we found familiar. It was a reflection of what all women with Endometriosis experiences. It's a hard disease to manage but our healthcare system in its current forum is not best places to treat and manage Endometriosis. Think about it 47% women infertility is due to Endometriosis, the only surgery offered is ablation (greater rate of regrowth) ... our gynaecology consultants not specialist trained in Endometriosis in their fellowship... hence why 200 Irish women each year travel abroad and self pay - yes personally fund specialist surgery in Endometriosis specialist center. I am 1 in 10 women that have Endometriosis. My daughter has been lucky enough to be 1 in 200 to self pay specialist Endometriosis surgery. There is huge inequity in healthcare for women with Endometriosis Guidance from Endo Specialist Dietitian can be useful to manage your endometriosis tool pre , during and post surgical and pharmaceutical treatment Endometriosis ESHRE24 #EndoWarrior #Endometriosisireland #belowthebelt #chronicdisease #infertility #ovariancancer #irishealthcare #Endometriosis
