🚍 Chief Manufacturing Officer Paul S. Lavoie and the team at CBIA set out on this bus tour of Connecticut to show the immense value (and cool factor) of manufacturing everything from submarines and jet engines to PEZ candy right here in the Nutmeg State. It’s essential that residents, businesses, and policymakers understand what manufacturing offers Connecticut. Not only does it drive 13% of CT's GDP, but it also provides good-paying, rewarding careers—careers that help keep innovation and craftsmanship thriving. That's a strong mark of who we are and will continue to be as a state. As we look to the future, it’s equally important to inspire a new generation of workers to explore these exciting opportunities. Manufacturing is evolving with cutting-edge technology and offering career paths. Together, we can ensure Connecticut remains a leader in making some of the world’s most important and iconic products. #MakeItHere #Connnecticut #Manufacturing #Candy #Aersopace #Submarine #Business #Jobs #WorkforceDevelopment | Connecticut Office of Manufacturing

I'm a little bit late posting this but I'm very excited to say that this week we launched The Engineers Reuse Collective! 🏗️🌍 Our team at Buro Happold have joined forces with Civic Engineers, Elliott Wood, Heyne Tillett Steel, Webb Yates Engineers and Whitby Wood to launch The Engineers Reuse Collective (tERC) — a not-for-profit initiative focused on accelerating the reuse of materials in the built environment, with the goal of achieving a Net Zero Carbon future. The first of its kind, our collective is supported by The Institution of Structural Engineers. Through knowledge-sharing, roadmap production, advocacy and collaboration, we’re working to remove barriers and push for industry-wide adoption of the circular economy. The built environment industry contributes around 25% of the UK's carbon emissions, with embodied carbon making up a significant portion of this figure. By championing reuse and circular economy principles, tERC aims to drastically reduce carbon emissions while promoting sustainable practices across the sector. 📣 Could your company be our next member? We’re looking for additional engineering practices to join the movement and help shape the future of sustainable construction. If you're passionate about making a positive impact, reach out to our lead Andy Yates (andy.yates@terc.org.uk) to get involved. “The climate crisis is here and as engineers we need to accelerate our actions to transition our built environment to zero carbon.” 📸 Thanks to: Andy Matthews #CircularEconomy #NetZero #Sustainability #tERC #Reuse #ClimateAction Gareth Atkinson Tom Webster James Morgan Harriet Browning Thomas Hesslenberg Robert Mills Laura Batty Ben Tapley Mike Brooks Alex Lynes Penny Gowler
Our Steering group is formed of representatives from our founding members; Buro Happold, Civic Engineers, Elliott Wood, Heyne Tillett Steel, Webb Yates Engineers and Whitby Wood, led by Andy Yates. First conceived last December, we've spent the last year developing a programme of events and materials to support engineers to design specify and champion reuse materials. www.terc.org.uk Andy Yates Anna Beckett Gareth Atkinson James Morgan Robert Mills Thomas Hesslenberg Tom Webster
