SMA Thin Layers with VIATOP The trend to use thin layers and ultra thin layers is not new. SMA surface courses with a maximum aggregate size of 5 mm have been used for many years already . Be it in cities and municipalities, in residential areas or on cycle paths and cycle expressways. Recently, SMA plus with a maximum aggregate size of just 3 mm has even been developed, implemented and presented in the media especially for cycle paths – of course with VIATOP as a stabilizing additive. Durable PA with VIATOP Maximum noise reduction and a significant reduction of waterspray during rain - permanently. How can this be achieved? It has taken some time to find a technically feasible answer to this question. We have already gone through several generations of porous asphalt surface courses. The current specifications of Porous Asphalt PA represent a further step towards increased durability and more permanent noise reduction. High-quality polymer-modified bitumen, a higher binder content in combination with fibers (VIATOP of course) and a revised composition of the mix with higher voids...the next step in the right direction. The experts in The Netherlands are setting the trends in this field and we can learn a lot from them. The goal is 10 dB A noise reduction over a service life of 20 years. Mission Ready Water Update: The World of Innovation At BluMetric we are dedicated to advancing water purification technology through strong collaborations with academic partners in research and development. A long-standing academic partner recently reached out to BluMetric to see if we could design and build a custom frame-mounted Reverse Osmosis (RO) pilot system for ultra-high pressure and recovery applications, well beyond conventional RO systems. Our partner wanted to run experiments in automatic continuous flux or pressure modes to allow the system to operate on lab source waters up to 80,000ppm, which is over twice the salinity of typical seawater; they came to BluMetric for a solution. BluMetric built a 1200psi RO solution for very high recovery applications and is a step towards zero liquid discharge, a great technological advancement in this water purification process.
