Sometimes we need that big scary outcome goal in front of us to motivate us to actually take action. I had no idea how I'd complete an IRONMAN....I didn't own a bike (and couldn't afford one), could hardly swim 50m and hadn't run more than a half marathon before. It enabled my brain to begin asking HOW. How will I swim for 3800m straight. How will I learn to run a marathon after biking for 180km. How will I know what to eat, when to eat, how much to drink? It forces you to look for solutions and to get creative. Figure out WHAT you want, be flexible on WHEN it might come and don't forget WHY you want it. #IRONMANtriathlon #BackpackingAbroad #WorkingHoliday #HybridAthlete #Gapyear

🎉 If you can dream it, you can train for it and achieve it! And I'm excited to share that I have completed my first triathlon!!! This achievement symbolises passion, perseverance, commitment, and consistency. I only learned how to swim last year. Although I have completed two marathons, running after a ride presents a different challenge. The cycling portion is also tough, with hills and steep descents to navigate. The diversity in triathlon training—switching between swimming, cycling, and running—keeps things exciting and prevents monotony. It challenges both my mind and body in new ways. At work, I thrive on different challenges, and triathlons reflect that same dynamic. The constant need to adapt, improve, and push beyond my limits resonates deeply with me. I think I will do more triathlons next year and fewer marathons. It was good fun, and I enjoyed every second of it. So, what's next? My goal is to improve even more in the next one. 💪🏽 🏊♂️ 🚲 🏃🏽♂️ #triathlon #passion #perseverance #commitment #consistency

Another wet, cold ❄🥶 bike ride in Sweden. Even my local Swedish Viking triathlon club members bailed on the ride today, leaving me alone out there. This is what builds character and prepares me for the upcoming races and life in general. The answer lies in surrender and acceptance. What I love about most runners and cyclists? We round up. If we get to 3.8 miles on a run, we always do the extra .2 to make it an even 4 miles on our watch. What that does is create a mindset of being a finisher…of doing more…of never shortchanging yourself. Runners and cyclists are insane about this. We always go until our watch or odometer is clicked up. We are never 3.8 milers but always 4 milers. Sounds crazy but that translates to everything. It gives us negotiating endurance, project endurance, “do chores” endurance. Round up…not down, because how you do anything is how you do everything. For all my runners, cyclists, and swimmers -- do you agree?

Among many things that happened in 2023, I am particularly happy with the fact that I ran 2750 kilometers in total (with different intensities) and completed 2 half marathons. That took me: - 243 out of 365 days running (66%) - 267 hours running in total - 11.3 kilometers on average every day - 255,000 kcal burned in total This year I am intending to increase the volume by at least 10%, i.e. having more than 3000 kilometers in total. Here's my year summarized in a calendar poster 👇. #running #runningmotivation
