Echoes of Resilience: An Intensivist’s Reflection on ARDS 💙 I’ve walked the halls where breaths grow thin, 🏥 In battles where the fight begins, ⚔️ I’ve seen the lungs that gasp and strain, 😷 As shadows fall, and hopes remain. 🌟 Through COVID’s storm and silent nights, 🌌 Where every breath became a fight, 💨 I’ve held the line, with steady hand, ✋ In this chaotic, fragile land. 🌪️ Each rise and fall of chest, I’ve known, 💓 The whispered prayers, the patient’s groan, 🙏🏽 I’ve fought with all, both heart and skill, 🧠❤️ To bend the arc of fate, the will. 🔄 In masks and gowns, through every tear, 😥 I’ve witnessed strength that won’t despair, 💪🏽 For every breath that’s fought and earned, 🌬️ A lesson deep, in lungs that burned. 🔥 On World ARDS Day, I reflect, 🧘🏽 On lives we’ve saved, and those we’ve kept, 🛡️ For though the road is hard and long, 🛣️ In unity, we’re always strong. 🤝🏽 To those who battle by our side, 🫂 In every breath, in every stride, 🚶🏽 Your courage fuels the work we do, 🔥 And in your fight, we find ours too. 🙌🏽 #WorldARDSDay #ARDSAwareness #CriticalCare #IntensiveCare #PulmonaryHealth #ICU #COVID19 #HealthcareHeroes #ARDSFighters #RespiratoryCare #MedicalCommunity #PatientCare #LungHealth #Nursing #Doctor #HealthcareWorkers #HealthAwareness #SaveLives #Pulmonology #ISCCM

Palliative care and spiritual and emotional care are vital in aged care for older people, friends, family and caregivers. Palliative care is a unique environment, and the importance of this week is to highlight the people at the heart of quality palliative care. Camilla Rowland, Chief Executive Officer, Palliative Care Australia (PCA) says, "National Palliative Care Week is an opportunity to open minds and hearts to the profound human spirit that drives palliative care and unlock the knowledge that comes when people and families are challenged by a life-limiting diagnosis that talks about death and dying," https://lnkd.in/dF7f4AJN

High Level Medicine on one of the more difficult calls that EMS encounters. Often times when a pediatric call doesn’t go well you hear from people “it was a tough call for them, the patient was x (pediatric)years old. We should believe all calls will be tough & when we do, that should drive our training and standards. This is an example of a crew who took a tough call and provided seamless care that resulted in a positive outcome. This doesn’t happen without standards. The standards will drive the training. Leadership is bi-directional. The standards can be set from either direction, bottom - up or top - down. Great Job to Dr. Antevy & his crew!

Today we regained pulses on a 2-year-old drowning at Palm Beach County Fire Rescue. 🙏 On scene: 21 minutes ‣ HP-CPR ‣ iGel placed ‣ Femoral IO placed ‣ NS bolus ‣ Push dose epinephrine (10 mcg) x 5 post ROSC ‣ Ketamine & Fentanyl post ROSC Time from scene to hospital: 18 minutes Stable vitals upon arrival. I couldn't be more proud of my team and all the work they've put into mastering the care of pediatric patients in the field. We are all praying for a full recovery. 🙏 Note: Photo is from a simulation, not the actual patient Charles Coyle | Handtevy - Pediatric Emergency Standards, Inc. | Mark Piehl, MD, MPH | NAEMSP Florida Chapter | National Association of EMS Physicians (NAEMSP) | National Drowning Prevention Alliance |

A much needed piece on the need to decolonize palliative care. Going back to the community, the origin of caring. Smriti Rana and Christian Ntizimira ending this piece on a powerful note: "Decolonising palliative care demands innovation: we must develop person, family, and community based indicators alongside traditional medical metrics. This is a call to arms for a holistic approach that respects local culture and context to ensure that care systems are equitable and responsive to diverse needs. The world needs a more inclusive model of end-of-life care." link ro article https://lnkd.in/dDZ_4ns9 #palliativecare #decolonization #compassionatecommunity #compassion #culturalassets #endoflifecare
Rich knowledge and practices of community and family based care for dying people in formerly colonised countries should inform a reimagination of palliative care globally, say Christian Ntizimira , Smriti Rana and colleagues in The BMJ: https://lnkd.in/gKvqCj8R
