You've been thinking about a franchise, you've been exploring it, you're super excited about the brand, but fear is just creeping in. I want to challenge you to run toward the fear and really debunk what the fears are making you second guess moving forward with a franchise opportunity. One common fear has you asking, “When will I break even? What is that month's payback period where I'm cash flow positive?” You can ask me, but you know I won’t be able to tell you, because the Federal Trade Commission doesn’t allow us as Franchisors to make representations and warranties about the franchise performance outside of what is included in Item 19 of the Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD). But even if I could legally share that information with you, YOU need to be doing your own due diligence. This looks like making sure you're filling out a financial pro forma with your own financial projections, so that you can really own the process and remove the fear. This is going to be your franchise business at the end of the day, so you need to get comfortable with the numbers. Another great way to get this information is participating in franchisee validation, asking franchisees about their business, their profit and loss statement, and what they experienced when they open up their location. How long did it take for their business to ramp up? What were some of the challenges or roadblocks they ran into?
