The best thing about teaching a new-to-me class is the opportunity to acquire yet more fascinating trivia to share at the numerous dinner parties to which I am invited (n≈2 per year, average). Here is one particularly fine example: in a roomful of people, what is the probability that at least two of them share the same birthday? It turns out that if you have at least 23 people in the room, the probability will be at least 50%. 🥂
