Rebranding could be a small change, or a substantial one. However the important component, is ensuring a companies memorability. This is a little known story, of a famous artist Salvador Dali and his friend, the Founder of famous brand Chupa Chups compañía del Grupo Perfetti Van Melle The story is said that, over sharing a coffee, founder Enric Bernat was complaining about his company logo. To help his friend, Salvador spent the proceeding hours sketching ideas and genially come to some great conclusions. He moved the logo from the side of the product to the top, placed the old wordmark in a sunflower shape- adding an orange color & changing the wordmark to red. These were simple changes, but ones that dramatically emboldened the companies visual identity. Injecting fun, uniqueness, and a timeless brand that has stood the test of time. What makes a logo iconic is varied, but there are famous examples of how a simple shape can be the difference between forgettable & memorable. Today, on my way to the Ogbomosho AJILETE YOUTH SUMMIT, I took a bike from my place and headed towards the event. During our journey, we encountered a traffic jam, and all the cars had to maintain their lanes to avoid further congestion. My bike rider did his best to navigate through the traffic, but suddenly, a big branded bus attempted to overtake the other cars in line. The actions of the bus driver caused frustration among everyone, especially when the bus encountered another trailer and there was no space for the driver to enter and avoid the traffic. In an attempt to find a way out, the bus driver tried to move down to avoid the congestion. Afterwards, the bus driver made every effort to return to the main road, but someone complained that he had done something wrong. What surprised me was the response of my bike rider. He acknowledged that he had made a mistake and adjusted his actions accordingly. He emphasized that nobody is above making mistakes. This made me reflect on the fact that many people face challenges today because they have made mistakes. Perhaps the comments or reactions from others have discouraged them from moving forward. I want to encourage you that mistakes can be corrected, and it is important to learn from them and adjust your course. Nobody is perfect, and we all have the ability to grow and improve.
