Many benefits to wood panelization at exterior walls with energy performance as well. Throw in some additional air-sealing measures and your structure is 2x more durable than your average stick frame construction methods. Love innovative strategies like this.
Milender White is pioneering a hybrid approach to wood-framed structures using in-house wood panelization with Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT). This innovative method, featuring strong, lightweight, and high-performance engineered wood panels, was the ideal solution for the 250,000 sq. ft. Mines Park Village project at the Colorado School of Mines. With CLT’s advantages in acoustic, fire, seismic, and thermal performance, using with MW’s self-perform expertise, we’re achieving unparalleled quality, speed, and efficiency. Curious about our approach? Read the full case study to see how we’re delivering results with sustainable and precise construction solutions here: https://lnkd.in/g6Y57dzm

How can we meet the future requirements for halving the climate impact in new construction? 🏗 The independent report from IVL shows that cast-in-place concrete frames with semi-precast from Thomas Betong AB can achieve 200 kg CO2e/m² gross area. – The report that came out last autumn shows that with our low-carbon precast products in combination with our low-carbon concrete Thomagrön, we can meet future requirements for new construction. There is actually further potential if, for example, the construction is optimized. And that without compromising on the sound class, which can actually be a challenge in other building systems," says Mats Karlsson, product manager at Thomas Betong. Take a look at this window detail! Since the initial installation, we've discovered that Extoseal Encors, due to its black color, melts under the direct summer sun in Arizona. Therefore, we've transitioned to using Extoseal Finoc in light green, originally designed for below base plates but proving highly effective for sills in hot weather conditions. This exemplifies our practical research efforts tailored for hot climates. In Arizona, there's a dearth of research on hot/mixed climates, arguably one of the most challenging environments for building materials. Having knowledgeable guides who understand effective building practices in our region is crucial. This is just one aspect among many that we consider in our consulting services.
