𝘾𝘼𝙎 𝙩𝙤 𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙬𝙤 𝙩𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙧𝙮 𝙤𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙊𝙡𝙮𝙢𝙥𝙞𝙘 𝙂𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙨 The TAS/CAS Tribunal Arbitral du Sport / Court of Arbitration for Sport / Tribunal Arbitral del Deporte informed recently that it will open two temporary offices in Paris for the Paris 2024 - Comité d'organisation des Jeux Olympiques et Paralympiques de 2024. The first office will be an Ad Hoc Division that will deal will all disputes related to and arising during the Olympic Games. This temporary tribunal has operated on site since 1996 for both Summer and Winter Olympic Games. The second office will be of the Anti-Doping Division and will adjudicate in all doping-related matters arising during the Games that are referred by the International Testing Agency (ITA), as provided by the IOC Anti-Doping Rules. This division has operated since the Olympic Games in Rio 2016. It is worth remembering that 'CAS' has opened similar tribunals for other international sporting events such as UEFA European Championship, the FIFA World Cup, or the Commonwealth Games. These temporary offices of 'CAS' allow for speedy and swift procedures that provide the Parties involved with access to justice while keeping in mind the tight schedules normally displayed during the Games, with whole procedures being carried out in less than 24 hours, from the request for arbitration to the issuance of a final and binding award. These on site offices of 'CAS' are just another example of the perfect match between sports law and arbitration. The practicality and adaptability of one, serving the needs of speed, access to justice, and legal certainty of the other. Did you know that CAS had such offices in the most important sporting events? Link: https://lnkd.in/d6CcM_wa #MuñozAriasSportsLawyers #sportslawyers #Paris2024

Where have luxury watchmakers placed their sponsorship budget 2024? The answer is clear: Formula 1. There are eight, seven brands, Swiss 🇨🇭 watch makers in Formula 1 2024. Perhaps, for me, the most surprising is that Swiss watch companies are not involved in for instance the Swiss Super League or Bundesliga.

Creating wealth solutions for families, business owners, professional athletes & coaches using Premium Funding for Life Insurance and Private Placement Life Insurance
Copa América organizers are still dealing with the aftermath of the logistical chaos that hit Hard Rock Stadium for Sunday night’s Argentina-Colombia final, which was ultimately delayed by more than an hour after thousands of unruly fans breached security. But the spotlight will quickly shift to an even bigger—and potentially even more challenging—international soccer event set to be played in North America. The 2026 FIFA World Cup, less than 23 months away, will bring a supersized version of Copa América to the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. The newly expanded World Cup will be a 48-team competition—triple the 16 nations that competed in this summer’s tournament. And Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium is one of eight Copa América venues that will also host matches in ’26, along with another eight stadiums throughout the continent. The expansion from the traditional 32 teams should shatter the World Cup attendance record of 3.58 million that is still standing from the last time the U.S. hosted in ’94. But, as fans from all around the world descend upon North America, there could be even more operational headaches for FIFA and local organizers in host cities. For the 2026 World Cup, Hard Rock Stadium is set to host four group-stage matches, a round-of-32 match, one quarterfinal, and the third-place game. Great that HGF has retained its gold ranking for United Kingdom and Benelux for 'Trade Mark Prosecution and Strategy' in the recent WTR1000 rankings and is highly ranked elsewhere. It is very much a team effort with over fifteen colleagues listed now as 'recommended individuals' and the rest of the team contributing to the ultimate ranking. Also excited and surprised, in true LinkedIn humblebrag speak, to retain my Gold ranking as an individual in the WTR1000, one of 29 for England & Wales. To who provided the comment: “Lee Curtis is smart, efficient and seemingly answers emails 24 hours a day. He is sensitive to the needs of his clients and is an indispensable part of the team when working on worldwide strategies." thanks, and I do occasionally sleep and eat, and I don't dream about trade marks, well not always. I always try and post something to catch your eye on postings connected to the subject matter. As I am a child of the nineteen eighties, otherwise referred to as a Thatcher's child or a member of the great Generation X, I thought about posting the theme tune to the game show 'Going For Gold' written by Hans Zimmer. This was a brief attempt during the late eighties and early nineties in the UK to combine a game show, hosted by Henry Kelly, with promotion of the European Union (then the EC). That attempt failed as shown by the result of the Brexit Referendum in 2016. However, I could not find an 'official recording' so didn't post, as I respect IP rights, obviously. So I went back to a classic and I give you the great 'Gold by Spandau Ballet'. Eighties pop at its best. "There is no harm in repeating a good thing" According to Google apparently once said by Plato. Vice President, Rights Sales, ANZ @ Wasserman | Driving Commercial Growth | Rights, Brands, Talent & Events
I might just be showing my age, but growing up in the early 80’s the Sydney Kings were the hottest ticket in town, possibly the most famous team to adorn purple & gold (this was at a time before global sport leagues & teams were beamed into the lounge rooms and onto the devices of millions across the world). Reflecting back now, little did I know 12,000kms away there was another team, instantly recognisable by its iconic purple & gold threads...THE most successful & globally recognised basketball team on the planet! This past week brought two of my passions together when the Los Angeles Lakers joined our Wasserman Rights Sales stable of global clients. Personally, I feel extremely privileged to be exclusively representing the Lakers’ brand in the ANZ region. Whilst I’ll spare everyone the pain of seeing me in one of my many LeBron James jerseys, what makes this partnership most exciting its global reach and bespoke opportunities for brands in international markets (including Australia) to capitalise. Did you know… 🏀 The Lakers have the largest global fan base in US sports, with 90% of Lakers fans living outside North America 📱 Australia is the NBA’s biggest market for its League Pass subscription streaming service outside the US 📺 NBA games in Australia are accessible through Foxtel (and Kayo Sports), Fetch, ESPN, NBA League Pass, TAB & Sportsbet 🎰 The NBA is the biggest sport in terms of gambling turnover in Australia, outranking the NRL & AFL at any given point in the year ⛹️♂️ 1.6m+ Australians play basketball, and as the most requested school sport in the country, the rise of the NBA is likely to continue 🎽 Australia is also the biggest buyer of NBA merchandise 👩💻 In 2021, the “NBA” was the most searched topic on Google in Australia ⏰ NBA teams play 82 times per year, the US time difference means they run during late morning or lunchtime, never clashing with local sports (e.g. AFL & NRL) So if you’re an Aussie brand looking to drive business in Los Angeles and/or connect meaningfully with your customers around the world, I’d love to discuss how you can build your business with this purple & gold legacy!
We are delighted to announce that Wasserman Rights Sales – our dedicated sponsorship sales team, has been appointed by the Los Angeles Lakers as its exclusive international commercial agency, with a specific focus on identifying international partnership opportunities. With a rich and storied history, this engagement aims to further broaden the Lakers’ presence globally, by pursuing relationships with world-renowned brands internationally. The team is extremely excited to be representing the iconic purple and gold franchise outside of the US and look forward to taking their international profile to even greater heights. The duration of a sponsorship agreement drives value, and the value that it drives has context. For flexibility for the sponsor, shorter terms can be more favorable in an uncertain economy or in more volatile industry categories. However, to protect the equity that’s been built in the association between the sponsoring brand and the property, longer term deals can be favorable. Read more about optimizing term length, and four other crucial elements of any sponsorship agreement at the article linked below. https://lnkd.in/g3UJ9NuG #sponsorship #sponsorshipmarketing #sportsmarketing #negotiation #deals #investment #termlength
