Tukundane's "Know Your Status" campaign plays a crucial role in challenging the stigma associated with HIV and empowering people living with HIV (PLHIV) to recognize and celebrate their full potential. This directly supports the belief that “Empowered Girls Can Transform Their Families, Communities, and Nations.” Here's how: The campaign directly addresses the mental and social stigma that can come with an HIV diagnosis. By promoting regular HIV testing and providing counseling, Tukundane helps normalize HIV status awareness and reduce the fear and shame associated with it. This empowers PLHIV, particularly girls and young women, to live openly and confidently without letting their diagnosis define them.

Today is Zero HIV Stigma Day, an important awareness initiative founded by NAZ and IAPAC, in collaboration with the Global HIV Collaborative and Fast-Track Cities Institute! Let's unite to fight HIV stigma which is fueled by misinformation, fear, and prejudice. Each one of us plays a vital role in pushing back against stigma whenever we encounter it. Dismantling stigma is essential to empower and uplift individuals, enabling everyone to access HIV testing, prevention, care, and support without fear or discrimination. Together, we can create an environment of understanding and acceptance, where everyone can enjoy equity, opportunity, and safety no matter their HIV status. ❤️ On this important day, we also honor Prudence Nobantu Mabele, who in 1992 became one of the first women in South Africa to openly share her HIV status, inspiring countless other individuals. As we embrace this year's theme of "Beyond Labels: Redefining HIV Narratives," we strive to build a world where human rights are upheld, and everyone can thrive with dignity. #ZeroHIVStigmaDay #UequalsU

🌍 As we approach World AIDS Day, the IAS is calling on people everywhere to rally around the theme, "Unite to reach all". In 2023, around 5.4 million of the 39.9 million people living with HIV worldwide – one in seven – were not aware of their status. At the same time, 9.3 million – nearly one in four – were not receiving life-saving treatment. Those who are not being reached are especially likely to be struggling with poverty and social inequalities or to be members of key and affected populations. Despite significant advancements in long-acting PrEP and treatment, these technologies are largely out of reach in low- and middle-income countries. For millions, barriers such as inequities, stigma, discrimination and harmful laws continue to stand in the way of comprehensive HIV care. 🎗️ World AIDS Day is a moment to reflect, remember and act. Progress is happening, but we can’t stop now. We need to Unite to reach all to ensure that no one is left behind in the HIV response. Whether you’re advocating for access to the best healthcare, sharing your story or making policy change happen, every action counts. 📱 Visit our World AIDS Day page now to access free resources, graphics and join the call to action on social media, using #UniteToReachAll. #WorldAIDSDay #WAD2024 #HIV

Today, on #WorldAIDSDay, we remember those we have lost to AIDS and reaffirm our solidarity with people living with HIV. HIV continues to affect millions of lives in Europe. In 2023 alone: 📌 3.1 million people in Europe were living with HIV, but only 62% had access to treatment. 📌 160,000 people acquired HIV. 📌 49,000 Europeans lost their lives to HIV-related causes. At Renew Europe, we are committed to a Europe where healthcare and support are accessible to all. To make this vision a reality, we call for: 🔵 Equal access to HIV prevention, testing, and treatment across the EU. 🔵 Stronger action to fight discrimination and stigma against people living with HIV. Let’s work together for a future where no one is left behind.
