Why is Building Inclusion important? 📹 We are still basking in the afterglow of the London launch event that has been described as electric, spellbinding, and joyous. Whilst we can't recreate these feelings entirely we asked the audience at #BuildingInclusion The Event for their reflections on The Book, The Work, and The Event. Thank you Marsha for the opportunity to be part of your incredible event and booking on Black females and architecture. Naast ben. On Earth, to be part of your book and to just be part of your journey supported us, and I think we equally supported you. And we're curious to go ahead and continue understanding together to build a more inclusive procurement. So I'm here tonight to really support Marsha to get an idea of the greater ripples that we hope the book will have as it finds its way in the world. One thing I really wanted to explore by being here. Is understanding that we could do better, as you said, Marsha, that we could do better at maybe creating the Super network. The National Organization of Minority Architects has shown us the way in the US I'm hoping to really instill that and start that process here. Marsha's impact on inclusion in the built environment is actually just beginning. She did her time at the IBA, she developed an understanding of the sector. She's taken that forward into building people. You know, we are immensely proud at the LSA of having collaborated with Marsha on a programme of Part 4A program aimed at professional practice, all about inclusive procurement, about diversifying your supply chains. This is work that is only just beginning. Potential of this, but it's just been there. It's something much needed and I can't wait for people to delve it, dive it and understand more about inclusion in the built environment. This is one of those things people talk a lot about in the abstract and having. Something concrete, a physical book that you can hold and actually work through is really important because then people can actually take this idea and put it into action. I think people need to read this book because it gives you a really robust guideline of how to integrate inclusion in all different ways or from different points of the sector. And there's a real. I think there's a real people led and people centered focus to the book. So even if it's just yourself wondering, ohh, how can I be a bit a little bit more inclusive, there are little tidbits that can help you navigate that and also help you inquire in a really productive way. Because I think buying the book, it gives everybody that that individual expertise, that ownership, that sense of real power and action that they can achieve. This is a book that people should read. For lots of different reasons. 90,000 words. There's a lot of words, OK? But let me tell you everyone, Brits with Marsha and I, one of the things I said to her when I read the book was that. I can literally hear you saying the words. When I read them, it is absolutely you.

📢 Building Inclusion - The Book, The Work, The Event. The London School of Architecture will host a very special book launch of Building Inclusion on the 10th October, with Building Inclusion author Marsha Ramroop FRSA FIEDP giving a talk, before a panel hosted by BBC London's Aminata Kamara, with Neal Shasore, Arthur Mamou-Mani, Pareisse Wilson and Sarah Jones-Morris, representing the pillars Marsha describes in the book: Attract, Retain, Create, Engage. This not-for-profit event will be supported by the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation, by endorsing the book and the event. The SDLF and the LSA are working together on the #Part0 commission to encourage marginalised young people into the built environment professions. Building Inclusion: A Practical Guide to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in Architecture and the Built Environment, was written by Marsha with one key purpose: to transform the built environment by providing professionals the tools, guidance, and inspiration to create inclusive cultures within their practice. The event focuses on the professionals and trades making this change from the Building People CIC network of networks, who will come together with key decision-making professionals from architecture, construction, engineering, Real Estate, and related fields to discuss, imagine and celebrate an inclusive built environment. The event will be an opportunity to network and connect with individuals and organisations in support of working to end discrimination, and create more inclusive cultures across the natural and built environments. 🗓️ Thu, Oct 10 🕕 17:30 BST 📍 The London School of Architecture, 4 Beechwood Road, London, E8 3DY 🥁 This will be no ordinary book launch. In fact it's not really about the book at all. It's about the work.
