What an honor to interact with and be inspired by the many talented participants of the “Made in Hopewell" event this week, organized by the Hopewell Downtown Partnership. The engaging event served as a celebration of all things manufacturing, both big and small, in the Hopewell-Prince George area. The goal of the event was to generate awareness, transparency, pride, and new connections around the community’s advanced technical knowledge and locally made products. Our Alliance was proud to be in attendance and on multiple fronts — with representatives like Jim Pannucci, PhD and Vanessa Womack of Activation Capital pictured here. Also in attendance were representatives from Brightpoint Community College, Virginia State University, CCAM - Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing, and more! Together, we had an opportunity to discuss our collective efforts to create a reliable supply of safe, high-quality, and affordable medicines for all. We also had the chance to share information about the multi-jurisdictional public and private sector stakeholders in the region who are working together to define a new era in R&D, advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing, workforce development, and supply chain development.

Our friends at the Petersburg Public Library, established in 1924, captured scenes from yesterday's Pharma Small Business Symposium, co-hosted by the Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity and the Alliance for Building Better Medicine. The highly anticipated event provided an opportunity for small business leaders and pharmaceutical industry stakeholders to network, gain insights, and explore partnerships as we work together to shape a new era in R&D, advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing, workforce development, and supply chain growth in our region. We were honored to co-host the Pharma Small Business Symposium with the Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity in City of Petersburg, VA this week. This inspiring event provided an opportunity for small business leaders and pharmaceutical industry stakeholders to network, gain insights, and explore partnerships as we work together to shape a new era in R&D, advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing, workforce development, and supply chain growth in our region. Keynote speakers included the Mayor of Petersburg, the Honorable Samuel Parham; Garrison Coward, Governor Youngkin’s Sr. Advisor for External Affairs, who is overseeing the Partnership for Petersburg initiative (PFP); and Randolph (Randy) Brown, Business Services Manager at the Dept. of Small Business & Supplier Diversity. GRP serves as the lead regional economic development organization for the City of Richmond and the counties of Chesterfield, Hanover, and Henrico in Virginia. GRP significantly impacts the region by recruiting companies from around the globe, providing employment opportunities, and generating taxable capital investment for local communities. GRP offers no-cost site location assistance and other services to both domestic and international companies planning new or expanded facilities. "The role of the Greater Richmond Partnership is to recruit new companies to the market, which bring high paying jobs and capital investment into the region.
