🔍Zoom in: Mapping Policy Needs for effective 2024 EPBD implementation Read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/ec8ejgzA The 2024 EPBD introduces National Building Renovation Plans (NBRPs) to replace long-term renovation strategies, offering a more structured and comprehensive tool for decarbonising Europe’s building stock. NBRPs require a detailed roadmap with targets, policies, investment needs, and progress indicators, improving coordination and strategic planning. In relation to drafting and implementing NBRPs, the following policy needs have been identified: ✔️ Better processes for collecting and updating reliable building stock data. ✔️Guidance in building institutional capacity for drafting and implementing the NBRP. ✔️Guidance on mobilising diverse funding sources and tailored schemes. ✔️Inclusive consultations and continuous stakeholder involvement. ✔️Guidance on ensuring consistency with other national or EU strategies touching upon building decarbonisation, especially the national energy and climate plans. ✔️Guidance on how to develop robust systems to track progress and outcomes. These insights will support Member States in creating actionable, aligned strategies to meet EPBD 2024 goals and advance building decarbonisation. In EPBD.wise, we looked at what Member States need in relation to drafting and implementing National Building Renovation Plans (NBRPs). A critical aspect of setting up the NBRPs is timing, since the draft plans have to be submitted for assessment by the end of this year, containing main #EPBD provisions, whose transposition deadline is May 2026. It is therefore crucial to start already the planning process and ensure strong coordination among parallel workstreams implementing the EPBD (MEPS, national trajectory, national scheme for renovation passports etc.) to avoid the delays that characterized the LTRS. Member States should use the drafting of NBRPs to coordinate all their building policies and investments, enhancing its function as a strategic guidance document for the decarbonization of the building stock. #EPBDwise

🔎 Zoom in on our ten policy priorities : Priority #1: Successful implementation of the EPBD – design policy with impact and goals. 🔗 Read the full report to learn more: https://loom.ly/QumVsXs The #EPBD sets a clear framework for EU Member States to transform the built environment. Key to this is the development of strong National Building Renovation Plans (NBRPs), with the first drafts due by end of 2025 – that’s little over a year! These plans should be built on public and stakeholder participation, driving investment and industrial strategies for the building sector. The European Commission must provide guidance, review NBRPs, and support implementation by sharing best practices. Establishing an EPBD Implementation Forum could enhance cooperation, foster innovation, and ensure efficient use of EU funding, accelerating the success of the Renovation Wave. #EPBD #SustainableBuildings #EUpolicy Arianna Vitali Roscini The Coalition for Energy Savings Climate Action Network (CAN) Europe Eva Brardinelli Delia Villagrasa Cool Heating Coalition Julie Kjestrup Elisabeth Hoffmann Sarah O'Brien Femke De Jong Thomas Pellerin-Carlin Tsvetelina Penkova Yvan Verougstraete Michael Bloss Sigrid Friis Niels Fuglsang Christophe Grudler MEP

🌍 NEW REPORT! What is needed for effective EPBD implementation? 📥Read the report here: https://lnkd.in/ec8ejgzA The 2024 Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) is more than a set of policies - it’s an opportunity. By creating a coherent framework for building decarbonisation, it allows Member States to take a holistic approach to renovations and craft a long-term vision for achieving a zero-emission building stock by 2050. This report provides critical insights into what Member States across EU need to leverage the flexibility of the EPBD and design integrated policies that work together to overcome barriers, align targets, and deliver impactful results. 🔑 Key policy needs include: ➡️ Crafting a coherent policy framework effectively using National Building Renovation Plans (NBRPs) to align measures and targets. ➡️ Timely and inclusive planning that ensures public participation. ➡️ Enhancing data collection to inform data-driven policies. ➡️ Upskilling the workforce to meet EPBD’s objectives. ➡️ Establishing financial instruments tailored to diverse target groups’ needs. ➡️ Monitoring social impacts, especially on vulnerable households. When policies interact and reinforce one another, their combined impact is greater than the sum of their parts. This report offers a summary of what Member States need for designing comprehensive and consistent policy packages to accelerate building decarbonisation across the EU. #EPBDwise #policyneeds #decarbonisation

"40% of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions come from buildings and, if left unchecked, they're set to double by 2050". It's crucial for governments to update their norms and regulations to align them with their NDC's. Europe, USA and others are already making progress in this area, and it's time for Latin America to follow suit. Let's work together in LATAM to reduce our carbon footprint and create a more sustainable future. #Sustainability #ClimateAction #GreenBuildings #LATAM
