It's no surprise that it caught LocalGlobe's attention, who backed their latest investment round. 🇳🇱 Paebbl When carbon is captured, it must be stored somewhere. Paebbl is trailblazing technology that transforms this captured carbon into carbon-negative construction materials. This approach is not just innovative but practical, considering the scale and permanence of building structures. They recently secured €8M in funding to increase their production capabilities to 300kg daily and I'm excited to keep an eye on the progression of this scaling. 🇬🇧 Carbon Re Spun out of the University of Cambridge, their AI platform offers a SaaS solution that immediately streamlines production inefficiencies in the construction industry. This tool enables companies to reduce costs and carbon footprints simultaneously — a crucial innovation for an industry often slow to adopt progressive regulations. As a first-time founder in the construction industry, I've chosen a path filled with immense challenges and incredible opportunities. The construction sector, traditionally slow to adopt new technologies, presents a challenging landscape for startups. However, this resistance to change also signals a vast untapped potential for innovation. According to recent data, over 3,000 construction startups have been registered globally, with notable successes like Procore raising $1 billion and Katerra securing $865 million. Yet, it's an arduous journey—around 70% of construction startups face failure within the first five years. Despite these odds, the ones that succeed, like Procore, revolutionise the industry by enhancing efficiency, safety, and project management. Why did I choose this challenging path? Because I believe in the transformative power of technology to solve real-world problems. Construction is ripe for disruption, and there's a growing need for solutions to streamline operations, reduce costs, and improve sustainability. The opportunity to make a significant impact in an industry that touches every aspect of our built environment is what drives me every day.
