Award Winning Financial Advisor | Expert in Estate & Inheritance Planning, Wealth Management, and Cross-Border Financial Solutions | Engineering, Accounting, Law | Dedicated, Customised, Unbiased Wealth Strategies
I told myself that I wasn’t good at networking. I told myself that networking is meant for extrovert. I told myself perhaps when I am more successful, I can network more effectively. Basically, these are excuses. I am concerned about what to say or what to do. I am concerned about being alone. I am concerned about being odd. Recently I had the privilege of attending the NUS CDE Alumni Relation Events, connecting with fellow alumni and faculty. Amidst the enriching discussions and networking, I couldn’t help but reflect on my own journey. How was it that I am now much better at networking? I just go to such event without any agenda (stress reliever) I just go to such event with an open mind to meet people (curiosity) I just go to such event to have a conversation (just a simple human-human talk) In the end, surprisingly, I had name cards of 3 distinguished Professional Engineer, doing well in their own field. It started as simple genuine questions: “How did you get to know of this event?” “How many times have you attended such events?” “What are you working on?” From there, it spirals into different conversations. Just keep it simple. Does anyone has any other networking tips to share? #networking #NUS #begenuine #noagenda
On April 24th, NUS CDE Alumni Relations hosted the Class Ambassador Network at NUSS Kent Ridge Guild House, uniting Class Ambassadors, alumni and faculty for engaging discussions, networking, and brainstorming. Associate Professor Teo Chiang Juay kicked off the event, highlighting CCAN's role in strengthening alumni ties and encouraging participation in the vibrant alumni community. Attendees enjoyed enriching sessions on Class Ambassador initiatives and ongoing activities, fostering connections on LinkedIn for continued engagement. Amidst a convivial atmosphere, participants relished networking over dinner, exchanging ideas and insights. The highlight was a compelling discussion on alumni engagement, sparking innovative collaborations and emphasizing the importance of giving back. Professor Heng Chye Kiang expressed gratitude for attendees' participation, highlighting the event's impact on expanding networks and strengthening bonds within the alumni community. As the event concluded, a sense of camaraderie and renewal prevailed, reflecting Class Ambassadors' dedication to alumni engagement and promising future collaboration and success. Let's keep the momentum alive! #CDEAlumni #ClassAmbassador #ClassAmbassadorNetwork

This week, our brazilian partner CESE - Coordenadoria Ecumênica de Serviço, with support from Misereor , kicked off a new course in local fundraising. This time, the group consists of organisations that operate in urban areas and foster dialogue between rural and urban communities to defend rights. In addition to highlighting the importance of local and national resources, the initiative combines practical activities with insightful content, introducing new management and communication tools. [August - Membership and New Club Development Month 👯♀️👯♂️] Why did you choose to be a part of Rotary? What solidifies your commitment to stay? Since your journey with Rotary began, what impacts have you fostered and achievements have you made? The month of August stands as a testament to our dedication, shining a spotlight on our members and the transformative work we accomplish in communities worldwide. It’s an opportune moment to reflect on how individuals can deeply engage with and contribute to the Rotary mission. Rotary is constantly advocating for membership growth and the broadening of our fellowship circle. Potential members are within our reach, scattered across various walks of life. It's essential to initiate meaningful conversations with qualified business and professional leaders about the myriad benefits that come with joining Rotary. Ensuring that club meetings, service endeavors, and fellowship gatherings are not only engaging and enjoyable but also deeply fulfilling, is paramount. By introducing more hands-on and impactful projects, we give our members a tangible sense of making a lasting difference. For clubs to flourish, we must adopt a proactive approach - seeking out new members, nurturing existing ones, and fostering the establishment of new clubs within the community. Together, let's amplify our collective capacity for doing good, making each act of service a stepping stone towards a better world. #Rotary #MagicOfRotary3450 #RID3450 #MembershipAndNewClubDevelopmentMonth

There has been an inspiration video that has been doing rounds. We can draw following lessons that relate to Alumni Challenge. Key Lessons from the Reunion Analogy: i) Perspective Shift: Perspectives evolve with age, prompting reflection on life's journey. ii) Humility and Reflection: Humility grows with time, fostering deeper introspection. iii) Appreciation for Life's Essence: Life is valued for deeper aspects like faithfulness and relationships. Iv) Tender Moments and Unity: Tender reunions evoke gratitude and unity among attendees. Acknowledgment of Mortality: The analogy underscores the importance of cherishing every moment. How Alumni Challenge Applies These Lessons: a) Promoting Reflection: Encourages alumni to reflect on their personal and educational growth. b) Fostering Community and Unity: Creates spaces for alumni to reconnect and bond over shared experiences. c) Emphasizing Values-Based Engagement: Prioritizes values like integrity and community service. d) Facilitating Meaningful Connections: Organizes events to foster connections beyond surface-level interactions. e) Celebrating Milestones and Gratitude: Encourages gratitude for life's journey and the relationships formed.
