Happy to respond to some questions about Arak Bali. * What exactly is Arak, and what makes it unique among spirits? - Arak is made by fermenting and distilling of "Tuak," or coconut sap. Why is Arak unique? In Bali, Indonesia, the production of Arak is still a family tradition, with the same steps of stem selection, natural fermentation, and once-only distillation carried out. Because the fermentation process occurs organically and produces a spirit with distinct qualities from other spirits in the world, it is incredibly special. What specific criteria do you follow to ensure the highest quality and consistency of your ingredients? - Arak is traditionally purified only once. To ensure the highest quality and consistency, a second purification with a consistent temperature is required. Could you elaborate on your ingredients selection process and what makes it unique? - Working closely with the stake farmers to obtain high-quality materials, providing training in the refining process and trusting in their culture. What makes it unique is Natural fermentation, With the help of dry coconut fibers that are inserted into the fermentation barrel so that the coconut fiber collaborates with the enzymes from the stake to produce natural yeast. How do you feel about earning the one-star award at the SOCraft Awards, and what does this recognition mean to you and Bumbung? - This is the first award for our Arak "Bumbung" and tuak farmers after so long we have been processing to introduce this Arak Bali. So with this award, Arak Bali can get closer to the global spirit and make the other spirit category that exists in the world. #livelovelocal #balinesecraftedspirit #spirit #arakbali #arakbumbung

Selamat Hari Pancasila, Indonesia! 🇮🇩🫡 Today, #Indonesia celebrates #Pancasila Day. Pancasila is the state ideology of Indonesia. It is a portmanteau of the Javanese words "pantja" (five) and "sila" (principles): monotheism, Indonesian nationalism, humanity, democracy, and social justice. In celebration of Pancasila, I thought I would share a photo of one of my favourite Indonesian dishes, nasi campur (lit. mixed rice). Nasi campur is ubiquitous, and can be found in various forms across the Indonesian archipelago. Like Pancasila, it is a celebration of unity in diversity. This particular spread from Yogyakarta in Central Java features dried tuna, sweet potato crisps, and kerupuk, with shared dishes of: 1. ayam panggang (roasted chicken), redolent with the fragrance of lemongrass, galangal, and lime; 2. sayur lodeh – eggplant, long beans, and melinjo leaves in a light coconut milk broth; 3. tempeh – crispy, pan-fried, and savoury soybean cakes, as if from a family kitchen; 4. pecel – steamed spinach, long beans, Javanese parsley, beansprouts, and torch ginger flower, slathered in a peanut sauce; and 5. perkedel jagung – corn fritters believed to have been adapted, during Indonesia’s colonial past, from the Dutch Frikandel. What are some of your favourite versions of nasi campur? Photo by me. Bonus points if you can guess which restaurant this is from!

Former Deputy CEO Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) with expertise in Investment Development & Promotion/ Adviser on Taxation, Tax Incentives, IR4.0 and Marketing and special interest in natural healing.
It was an amazing experience holidaying on Pangkor Island, off the coast of Peninsular Malaysia, during the off-peak season recently, as my wife and I had an easy time exploring the island and visiting interesting places. Pangkor Island and Sabah are the leading producers of ikan bilis (dried anchovies) in Malaysia. Ikan bilis is a common food ingredient in Malaysian cuisine. During my childhood days, Ikan bilis was thought of as a poor man's choice. Currently, unless you use it sparingly, it is rather pricey. I hope Pulau Pangkor's ikan bilis business continues to thrive and be sustainable in the context of food security. Larger, more contemporary boats ought to be given to support traditional and coastal fishing communities. New technology should also be introduced in this economic activity in order to continue its appeal to the younger generation. On a lighter note, the blue-eyed Ikan bilis seems to be a popular choice. I wonder why. #anchovies #fisheries #pangkor #ikanbilis #foodsecurity #marineindustry

Understanding Broken Candlenut: Potential and Benefits Unlock the hidden potential of broken candlenuts—a byproduct of the imperfect cracking process performed by local farmers, commonly produced on the island of Flores, Indonesia. While global markets traditionally focus on whole candlenuts, this often overlooked fragment holds the same economic and functional value. Unfortunately, this byproduct is often sold at a lower price to local factories, despite its freshness and quality remaining intact. Broken candlenuts offer a unique opportunity for candlenut oil producers. Unlike their whole counterparts, they maximize packaging efficiency by eliminating wasted space, making them a cost-effective and eco-friendly alternative. By tapping into this untapped supply chain, you can secure a consistent source of raw material while supporting sustainable practices and benefiting from a niche market that few have explored. If you’re curious to learn more, don’t hesitate to contact us. We’ll serve you with pleasure and welcome you like family. #HawaiiLife #Maui #Seedoil #Candlenuts #Kukuinut #Aleuritesmoluccana #Oil #Nuts #naturalbeauty #natural #hawaiianbody #productknowledge #naturalskin #soap #naturalsoap #skincare #USA #EU

The history of Muntok pepper is closely related to the origins of white pepper and the spice industry on Bangka Island, Indonesia. The following is a general overview of the history of Muntok pepper: Origin of Muntok Pepper: Muntok Pepper originates from the Muntok area on Bangka Island, which is located in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Indonesia. Bangka Island is famous for its production of high quality white pepper. Spice Trade Era: Since ancient times, spices including pepper have been valuable commodities traded throughout the world. Bangka Island, as a center for white pepper production, plays an important role in the spice trade in Southeast Asia. Influence of Dutch Trade: During the Dutch colonial period in Indonesia, the spice trade reached its peak. Muntok pepper is one of the spices that is widely exported to Europe. Traditional Production Process: The traditional Muntok pepper processing process involves local farmers collecting white pepper pods from the trees. The pepper is then dried in the sun to dry, then the skin is peeled to get the white pepper seeds. Distribution and Use: Muntok pepper is widely known in Indonesia and is an important ingredient in traditional cuisine, especially typical dishes of Bangka and the surrounding area. Quality Recognition: Muntok pepper is considered to be of high quality because of its thin skin, small seeds, and distinctive spicy taste. This makes it popular as a spice for cooking and the food industry. Pepper Industry Development: Along with the development of the spice industry in Indonesia, Muntok pepper production continues to grow and has become an important part of the local economy on Bangka Island. Although the history of Muntok pepper does not have in-depth written records, its role in the spice trade and its uniqueness as a superior product from Bangka Island have made it famous on the international stage. Muntok pepper remains a symbol of Indonesia's rich spices and important cultural heritage. #lada #ladamuntok #pepper #bestpepper #commodity #indonesian #bangkabelitung #trader #spicy #herb

The success of our long-term vision depends on our partnership linking rural villages with consumers: "Rural villagers in Eastern Indonesia are happy and healthy thanks to fair markets for their farm products and good job opportunities. The foods we produce together delight and support the health of consumers worldwide." A big thank you to all of our partners that work alongside us to create these positive impacts! Sweet Treats for the Soul - Martabak Manis Waffle 🧇 This is not a food blog or review, I promise. Fluffed cafe in Malaysia brought a local twist to an international favourite - Martabak Manis Waffle. Brought to life by a Malaysian cafe, inspired by the infamous Martabak Manis of Indonesia, set on a base of fluffy, crispy Pandan Waffles from the West ☁ Saltiness from the cheese harmonies with the sweetness of the sugar peanut and Nutella sauce. Crispy fragrant pandan waffle compliments well with thier homemade kaw kaw peanut butter ice-cream 🍨 The Martabak Manis Waffle exemplifies the principle of Glocalization. I'm an ardent fan of this term when discovering it early in my career. Glocalization is a business strategy that involves adapting global and international products to local context. Glocalization campaigns often hits the mark as the intended focus of the strategy has the local customer at its heart. The bottom line of glocalization is that it makes global companies more effective competitors in the domestic landscape. Last but not least, I would like to wish all my Muslim connections, Ramadan Mubarak, have a blessed Ramadan 🌙 Credit : Fluffed Cafe & Dessert Bar, 📍 Tmn Paramount or Sunway Mentari #waffles #glocalization #fluffy #blessedmonth
