That's the way you do it: Pont d'elena will be closed for car traffic in future. In order make the area safer for pedestrians and more attractive for tourism, the bridge will be permanently closed to normal car traffic, while maintaining fluidity of service for public transport and emergency services. The pedestrianization of the Pont in front of the Eiffel Tower is part of a series of measures aimed at reducing automobile traffic around major Parisian monuments. In the past, Paris has already taken many measures to make the city more attractive. The reduction of car traffic and the permanent greening of the city center are just some of these measures. World Monuments Fund (WMF) has found that the most widespread threats to heritage sites include climate change and rapid urbanisation. A study of more than 200 heritage sites around the world also found that factors like war, insufficient funding, irresponsible tourism and “lapse in oversight” topped the list. This is according to research for WMF’s upcoming World Monuments Watch, a biennial list of sites in danger of deterioration or destruction. https://lnkd.in/eeH3cc3T

#Heritage and especially so #builtheritage is controversial in several aspects. In #latinamerica oftentimes the mere access to this heritage is difficult for a large part of the residents. This brings up "dual" #cities in the continent, that is, urban environments which have been built on #spatial and #social #segregation. Wyre Council has been working hard with external specialists Arcadis on a masterplan comprised of four potential projects, aimed at transforming the area along the waterfront at Fleetwood.
