Bundaberg Regional Council’s Post

Great news! Our Washpool Creek Naturalisation Project has received $2 million in funding to continue transforming the area into a thriving natural waterway. Stage 3 will remove concrete, add vegetation, and improve water quality, benefiting Baldwin Swamp, the Burnett River and the Great Barrier Reef. This project enhances both the environment and our community space Find out more: https://lnkd.in/gxYiJj2i #WashpoolCreek #Sustainability #CommunityDevelopment #Bundaberg

Stages before were funded for 2.9 million and cost 5 million. Let’s see if 2 million funding requested by the same team planning the works is sufficient. Just remember the purest water comes from the sky and runs in the original drains to Baldwin Wetlands.

Sewerage not far off going into the river at Buxton will help the reef, not. But no interest at all

Fantastic example of councils delivering important environmental initiatives that have wide ranging community benefits.

It has been great to be involved in the design of this project and I look forward to seeing how it performs as everyting settles in and the vegetation matures. There's still plenty of other badly impacted waterways to address in Bundaberg and the coast, Moneys Creek would be a jewel in the crown.
