It's Friday, let's go with FiredUpFridays! Here are the three things I'm heated over: 1. March Madness has arrived! On the women's side, my Utes were taken down by a Gonzaga team that couldn't be stopped from the 3-point line. They went 54.5% from downtown. We went 26.5%. That's interesting because WE, the Utah Utes, are usually the team that can't be stopped from beyond the arc. This reminds me, we can't always be one-dimensional. When life, work, or daily challenges arise, are we well-equipped to deviate from the original "game plan" and pivot to something more productive for the moment? A respectful single flame for healthy and elite competition 🔥! 2. I'm officially a Utah Royals season-ticket holder. Welcome back to Utah, Royals! While we lost the home-opener to the Chicago Red Stars, we won in spirit and support. The game was sold out, and so were the fans to the team, players, game, and community. Ohhh, AND, we did pick up our first W at home (and for the season) in our second game against the North Carolina Courage. Blazing return to Royalty 🔥🔥! 3. This week I was able to attend a workshop that brought together many different nursing departments and leaders from across University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics system. It's amazing what happens when you sit in the same room with other peers who are passionate, inspired, intelligent, creative, and supportive! It reminds me, why do we have to wait for an event to take place for magic to spark and change to happen? Why aren't we spending regular, daily time getting in front of one another...REALLY hearing what others are doing and accomplishing...AUTHENTICALLY celebrating wins...TRULY exploring big and small ideas over coffee...RESPECTFULLY challenging each other's assumptions...INTENTIONALLY encouraging steps and plights? We don't have to schedule when we will be exceptional colleagues and friends. Instead, we can live exceptionally by consistently showing up more fully and presently for our peers in all that we do. Combusting with simplicity 🔥🔥🔥!

Tom Brady’s retirement marked the end of an era in American football. Tonight, “The Goat 🐐“ is getting inducted into the New England Patriots Hall of Fame. Today has even been proclaimed as Tom Brady Day throughout the Commonwealth! There are so many key values and lessons we can learn from his remarkable career: Resilience and Perseverance: Brady’s journey wasn’t always smooth. He faced setbacks, including being drafted late in the sixth round. Yet, he persisted, worked hard, and became a legend. His resilience teaches us that setbacks don’t define us; our response does. Consistency and Longevity: Brady’s career spanned 23 seasons, marked by consistent excellence. He never had a “bad” season, defying the usual decline seen in athletes. His longevity reminds us that sustained effort and discipline lead to greatness. Teamwork and Leadership: Brady’s leadership on and off the field was crucial. He motivated teammates, built strong connections, and led by example. His success wasn’t just individual; it was a team effort. We learn that leadership is about lifting others up. Family Support: Brady often credits his family for their unwavering support. Their presence at games and celebrations showed the importance of a strong support system. Family provides grounding, love, and perspective during challenging times. He was also supported by many mentors along the way. Legacy and Impact: Brady’s legacy extends beyond records. He ushered in the modern passing era, inspiring young quarterbacks. His impact on the game will live in. We learned that our actions ripple beyond ourselves; they shape the future. Looking forward to the celebration of Tom Brady and his remarkable journey that transcends sports! He will forever be a Patriot. Thanks for the memories TB12. Love that The Brady Kids put this together to support their dad on such an incredible night! This Pride Month, every company wants you to think they're inclusive. But have you ever tried to actually *implement* a DEI program at a company? These folks have, and they're sharing the ups and downs, the wins and pitfalls, the good, the bad, and the rainbow-logo-ugly. The facilitator of this panel is one of my oldest friends, and someone who thinks deeply about diversity, equity, and inclusion every single day. She's a DEI trainer, a CEO, and a thoughtful human being with lived experiences that make this very close to her heart. She's gathered a panel of people who have put in the work to implement DEI programs at their companies and have a wealth of experience in actually making this happen. It's not an easy process, and it's not as simple as making your logo a rainbow for Pride Month or posting a black square in support of Black Lives Matter. It's also not a set-it-and-forget-it project. Learn from those who have been there about how to make the most of the process and implement a program that truly has an impact.
Is your workplace growing stagnant in their DEI efforts? Does your leadership need a lil nudge from their industry peers? Are you personally curious about what these folks have to say about the state of DEI in Colorado? Serving the tea, we've got: - Jill Corbin from Colorado Tourism Office - Heather Disney Dugan from Colorado Parks and Wildlife -Jackie Miller from Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) - Philip C. Sneed from Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities. - Melissa Akie Wiley from Town of Erie Co-Facilitator: The one, the only-- Parker McMullen Bushman Learn more about this event and buy your tickets today (they're going fast) at www.CrystalEgli.com. (Psst! Bonus points if you invite your boss.)

Seattle went to bed yesterday evening awash with purple, celebrating the epic win by our UW Huskies last night! They showed us exactly what "Bending Not Breaking" means, both on the gridiron and in the business world. Just like in any tough campaign, the Huskies faced adversity: last minute injuries stopping the clock, late penalties, and a focused opponent. But instead of crumbling, they adapted, adjusted, and made an incredible play with :01 on the clock. They bent, but they never broke. This is a crucial lesson for us all: Embrace the unexpected: Not every plan goes perfectly, and that's okay. Be flexible and adapt to challenges. Stay relentless: Even when things get tough, keep pushing forward. Persistence always pays off. Work together: Teamwork makes the dream work, on the field and in the office. Celebrate wins and support each other through setbacks. Believe in yourself: The Huskies knew they had it in them, and so do you. Confidence is key to achieving your goals. So, let's channel the Husky spirit this week! Let's bend the challenges thrown our way and dominate our professional goals. Go Dawgs!

Happy #thinkaboutitthursday When I was in college at Kansas State (yes, it was a very long time ago, thank you 😎) it was the beginning of the Big 12 and the height of the Bill Snyder era. Now, there is a statue of Bill outside the aptly named “Bill Snyder Family Stadium.” He is widely celebrated the greatest coach in Kansas State history, but his impact extended far beyond the football field. He was renowned for his dedication to his players and his community. Even current Kansas State athletes attest to his influence, with some considering him the greatest mentor they've ever had. I’m sure no one is going to raise a statue of me, but reflecting on Bill's legacy made me think about these questions: How do I want to be remembered? Personally and professionally, what mark do I want to leave when my time comes to an end? These inquiries can serve as our personal compass, steering us towards living out your values. However, recognizing alignment or misalignment in our lives isn't always straightforward, so think about these questions: 🤔 How do you want people to remember you? What stories do you want circulating about you? What impact do you want to have? 🧭 Is your current lifestyle aligned with that vision? Do your daily choices reflect the person you aspire to be remembered as? Reflect and evaluate.🪞Assessing whether your current actions align with your desired legacy is crucial, as your legacy is a culmination of your daily habits and decisions.

Teach me, Correct me... ? Well, within limits, can't go 'off the ranch" Come & whisper in my ear, give us dirty laundry... My Dad may be the last surviving of original engineers that got KET up and running, fighting cancer 6yrs likely from Gyphosate exposures spraying it on the tower guy wires, to save money & other EMF field exposures in the UHF 600mhz band: was he part of the 50th Anniversary celebration ? Nope, & the cannibalistic media is all too 🤔 eager to eat their own as all the business models are collapsed by the phone mafia/syndicates, & were my warnings heeded along with others from the 1990s? Hardly, you might check out #23-5337 in the 6th Circ Ct of Appeals for part of "my" side which: WKYT, defunct Morehead Snews and ASHland's Daily Flemdependent & others did not dare get: 11pages with references, if it is said not to be filed, there's copiessss. Enjoy the recognition from the 4th Estate that's more of a 5th column ... while it lasts.
Significance over success. It takes a while to realize that’s what your heart truly desires. I’m thankful for open doors and closed ones, and for people who invested their time to lift me, teach me, correct me and love me. Tonight is an important night. As a first-generation college student the Hill (colloquial reference to Western KY Univ) was literal and figurative. But the with the unwavering support of my parents who worked so hard for my brighter future, God’s amazing grace and favor, the best community of college friends, professors, co-workers and mentors, I made it. It’s been a big year for me with honors and recognitions. I was reminded from a dear friend who gave me a birthday card the other week, that between now and this time next year, more amazing things will happen. I just have to believe. Another friend texted me a prophetic word about receiving what I’m silent about. You can make fun if you want, but I believe those are angels sending a message to me that at 51 my life is just getting started. What God started, He will finish. I’m pressing on! For those of you who think it’s too late for you… let me speak resurrected dreams into your spirit. It’s not too late. Believe. Hope. Trust. This is more than I usually share, more personal than I usually reveal. Don’t worry, I won’t make a habit out of it. 🙂 Tonight, surrounded by a community of long-time friends, I’ll proudly be inducted into WKU’s Hall of Distinguished Alumni. To God Be The Glory for all He has done for me! I’m already a puddle of tears reading this piece done about me below. If I get through tonight without my mascara running down my face, it’ll be a miracle. I know hearing what Dana Divine, Sherry Murphy and Bob Babbage said in the tribute video will turn on the waterworks for sure. I’m told there will be tissues at the table. 🙂 https://lnkd.in/gUrURw6Q

On a Mission to Help 1 Million Parents Write at Least 1 Lasting Legacy Letter | I Can Help You, Your Employees, and/or Your Clients Experience the Joy of Writing Their Letter | Speaker | Coach | Founder | Dad
Twenty-one years ago, as we prepared for a trip to Hawaii over Memorial Day, my dad was putting the finishing touches on his Legacy Letter for me, unaware that those would be his final words to me. Just last night, Corbin invited me to conduct a Legacy Letter Workshop for a group of his friends. It was a profoundly moving experience to see fathers earnestly crafting their Legacy Letters to their children. I expressed to them how extraordinary and meaningful their actions were. "Imagine how many people yearn for a dad (or mom, or loved one) to carve time out of their hectic lives to write a letter that conveys their love and pride?" Though I've facilitated workshops nationwide, there was something incredibly special about being with a group in Tulsa, my own community. Watching these men write, my thoughts naturally drifted to my father diligently writing his letter to me. His absence is a void in my heart, especially when reflecting on the last 21 years he's missed—moments like meeting my wife and children. Yet, I also think about the legacy he left behind. My father touched many lives during his lifetime, but it's safe to say that he's now impacted even more in his death. I look forward to the day I can share with him just how vast that impact has become. Last night, those fathers solidified themselves as the heroes their children already see in them, and Corbin was the Hero of the Day for making this experience happen. We are eagerly expanding our offerings to include Virtual Legacy Letter Workshops. If you're ready to be the "Hero of the Day" among your friends, clients, or colleagues, please reach out for more information. By doing so, you'll not only be creating an invaluable gift for your loved ones but also helping me honor my father's legacy! : )

Old Joe Medicine Crow. I heard those specific words right as I woke up. I sat straight up because the voice that said them was as real as the room. I rarely have these dreams where the words are so crystal clear, but when I do, I totally pay attention to them. They have a meaning even though it is not always immediately obvious why. Old Joe Medicine Crow. I rather expected to find a band by that name with some one hit wonder song with superb lyrics. ▶︎ Instead, I found the last war chief of the Crow Nation. One only gets to own the ancient and prestigious title of war chief when they are the bravest, the strongest in their tribe. This hallowed title is reserved for those able to prove themselves in combat and accomplishing the four achievements the Crow people believed were the most difficult things a warrior could accomplish. ▶︎ Let's just say, I didn't see that coming. At the time of my dream, he had just turned 100. Old Joe. He lived another two years to the age of 102. ▶︎ Somehow, I knew that he was extra special. And, he was. Most people stop at his being a war chief. But, it wasn't his military prowess and bravery that captured my attention. In extensive research, I found that he was both equally revered among the Native Americans as he was reviled. Why? Because he was willing to collaborate with the enemy, those who had driven tribes away from their homelands. Historicially, the Crow Nation was noted for their work in building communities and in education. He saw that the settlers had additional ideas in the same vein. When his critics saw him integrating some of the White Man's ideas into Crow communities, they came at him hard. ▶︎ His reply? "Take from the best and discard the rest." ❓So, how exactly is the bravest of war chiefs key to your new client acquisition woes? Rainmaking in North America started with the Native Americans and came into business lore through the legal field. We have been blessed with an amazing model for profitable organic growth if we're willing to collaborate. ✅ A Rainmaker is the most important person in a firm as they are able to bring in biggest and most new clients. ✅ Rainmakers exist in any profession.
