Africa Oil Corp. (TSX:AOI) revealed it repurchased more than 326,000 shares between February 5 and 9, as part of a buyback programme launched in early December. As part of the buyback, the oil company bought 120,000 shares through the Toronto Stock Exchange, which traded at around the CA$2.20 mark during the week of the purchase. More than 206,000 shares were then repurchased through the Nasdaq Stockholm exchange. All recovered shares will now be cancelled. Since the inception of the buyback program in early December 2023, Africa Oil has successfully repurchased 3,701,097 shares. Our valuation indicates a fair value per share of OMR 0.458 which translates to a FY2025 PE of 11.5x, 2025 EV/EBITDA of 6.1x and a 12-month Dividend Yield (inclusive of performance dividend) of 8.6%. Our fair value indicates an upside of 23.8% to the lower end (OMR 0.370) and 17.4% to the upper end (OMR 0.390) of the price band respectively for Category I investors and an upside of 30.5% for Category II investors (Local investors). OQEP is Oman’s largest pure-play oil & gas exploration and production company, and its only wholly Government-owned upstream oil and gas operator. The Company, founded in 2009, is a wholly owned subsidiary of OQ, Oman’s flagship energy company, and is one of its core assets, with its adjusted EBITDA accounting for approximately 40% of OQ’s adjusted EBITDA in 2023. The Company’s dividend policy is linked to robust and sustainable cash flow generation and is expected to comprise a base dividend of US$600 million and a performance-linked dividend equal to 90 per cent of the Company’s expected free cash flow (plus net proceeds from potential asset disposals, net of the base dividend for financial year 2025 and 2026).

🔴BP has announced its second-highest profit in a decade! 🔵 Despite the fall in oil prices, the energy firm reported profits of $13.8bn (£11bn) in 2023, only down from the record $27.7bn in 2022. BP plans to return cash to shareholders and is stepping up its efforts to do so. In the final three months of 2023, BP reported profits of $3bn, which was higher than expected, and its shares were up more than 5% by Tuesday afternoon. The company also said it planned to increase returns to investors during the first three months of the year through $1.75bn of share buybacks.
