NOLA Gold Rugby is set to reach a wider audience following a new broadcast partnership with Gray Media. Under the agreement, all 16 of the Gold’s home and away games for the 2025 season will air on the Gulf Coast Sports & Entertainment Network, expanding access to professional rugby across Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. “This groundbreaking partnership with Fox 8 and Gray Media is a monumental step for NOLA Gold Rugby and Major League Rugby as a whole,” said Thierry DAUPIN, Chairman of NOLA Gold Rugby. “We are very excited to bring the NOLA Gold to the Gulf Coast Sports & Entertainment Network,” said Mikel Schaefer, Vice President and General Manager, WVUE-TV Fox 8. “The Gold is a founding member of professional Rugby in the U.S., and this is a great way to bring such an exciting and growing sport in America to the Gulf Coast.” The Gulf Coast Sports & Entertainment Network is available for free over the air in 14 television markets, including Gray Media’s Louisiana stations in Baton Rouge, Shreveport, Lake Charles, Monroe, and Alexandria, as well as Delta Media in Lafayette. Pundits (often former players) and fans alike have a great understanding of their chosen sport.. yet to hear managers profess they are pleased with at best lacklustre performances understandably grates and generates reaction. Q - At what point does management need to step back and recognise lacking performances are an issue. • Its great to win competition group stages yet we need to also recognise easier groups and favourable pathways... and manage expectations. What a way to end the Copa America!! Showing your appreciation for the fans by letting everyone in 🤣. I guess I answered my question from the last post - an embarrassment!!!! CONMEBOL CONMEBOL Copa America 2024 https://lnkd.in/eMfbykZR Joe Pompliano has some good takes but also some misses. Couple points: 1) U.S. Soccer Federation ran the 2016 COPA and made a ton of $$$ reported to be $75M 😲. CONMEBOL could not let that happen again, took "control" and became the promoter. 2) The entire tournament was about driving revenue (wacky ticket scaling) and/or cutting expenses (quickly laying sod on turf). See my last post at the beginning of the tournament re: ticket prices (before it was highlighted in an ESPN article 😉) 3) CONMEBOL / CONMEBOL Copa America 2024 know very well the craziness that occurs at both national and club games throughout LATAM. Mind you, so do U.S. Soccer Federation, CONCACAF, FIFA and the host venues. 4) The host venues must share responsibility for what happened at this tournament. The venue's job is to work with the promoter to determine and design the ticketing, operations and staffing for the event, including security, police presence, ingress/egress, etc. Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium has hosted massive events multiple times - F1, many futbol matches, tennis, NFL, concerts, etc. Their failure was not requiring CONMEBOL to have adequate security, police and operational staff in place for the final, especially after what happened in Charlotte. Yes, CONMEBOL Copa America 2024 was a money grab for the organization, however it could be argued Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium was the weakest link. Remember, the host stadium is making $$$ from ticketing fees, parking and food and beverage without any sell-out risk. With all the expertise, why did they let this happen? 5) This mess will have zero impact on the FIFA World Cup 2026™ - Canada, Mexico and the United States with the exception of a few learnings. Ticket prices will still be high...unless you want to watch Lesotho v Lichtenstein 😋.
