Reduced work time offers a real chance to move the needle on gender equality at work and at home. We know that women are much more likely to opt for reduced-hour or part-time roles – moving to a shorter working week in a structured, systemic way across the organization can take a giant step towards closing the #genderpaygap and achieving true #genderequality. It’s not only working parents that struggle to juggle caring responsibilities and work commitments. More and more people these days are caring for elderly parents or relatives, with many families having more complex care needs. Join us on March 27th for an information session with the newly formed Women 4 Work Time Reduction. Gender equality isn't just a moral concept—it's essential for innovation, productivity, and overall organizational success. Studies show that diverse teams lead to better decision-making and increased productivity. Yet, many still struggle to create an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. Here are a few ways we can all contribute: 1. **Mentorship**: Support and uplift folks in your network by sharing your knowledge and opportunities. 2. **Equal Opportunities**: Ensure that hiring and promotion practices are transparent and equitable. 3. **Flexible Work Policies**: Recognize the diverse needs of your employees and implement policies that support work-life balance. Together, we can create an environment where everyone can thrive work and create workplaces where everyone has an equal chance to succeed. #GenderEquality #DiversityAndInclusion #Leadership

Employers should swap cupcakes for real action on structural barriers to gender equity this International Women's Day (IWD), argues advisor Sally Hasler. She says there are five key things firms should do to help women thrive, including addressing gender pay gap data and preventing sexual harassment, but the first step is an internal audit. "Conduct a gender impact assessment to understand how your programs and services meet the needs of women, men and gender diverse people," she writes. What do you think is the best way to mark IWD? How does your workplace strive for equality — and what could be done better? Comment below. You can also share your idea of the day on any topic to get people talking. Hold the cupcakes and hashtags! With the 8th of March just around the corner, here's five things that organisations can do to mark International Women's Day, rather than organising a morning tea. **Warning, taking these actions might actually address structural barriers to gender equity!** 1. Conduct a gender impact assessment to understand how your programs and services meet the needs of women, men and gender diverse people. Sometimes it’s not immediately obvious how services or outcomes are gendered. 2. Be open and transparent with your employees about the pay gap in your organisation (published by Workplace Gender Equality Agency on Tue 27th for organisations over 100 employees), understand the drivers and take steps to address it. 3. Prevent and respond to sexual harassment at work embedding a victim-centred, practical approach that goes beyond policies and training to create a culture of respect and safety at work. 4. Increase procurement from women-owned businesses or set minimum gender equality standards for organisations in your supply chain. 5. Add diversity information to the skills matrix of your decision-making group or board to understand whether people making decisions in your organisation bring a diversity of perspectives and lived experience. #iwd2024 #IWD

The session I attended was truly inspiring and thought provoking 💡 It shed light on the achievements and challenges faced by women in our workplace. It's important to celebrate progress and also highlight the work that still needs to be done to create a more inclusive environment where all our #TeamNP colleagues can thrive. Let's continue to push for progress and work towards creating a more diverse and inclusive workplace. #DiversityAndInclusion #WomenInLeadership #InclusiveEnvironment
Last week, the #TeamNP Women's Network hosted two events for officers, staff and volunteers focusing on the importance of gender equality, inclusivity, and empowering women in the workplace. Events like these not only provide a key opportunity for colleagues to come together, share lived experiences and learn from one another, but they also have a profound impact on embedding our welcoming and supportive workplace culture 🤝 By shining a spotlight on the achievements and challenges faced by women in our workplace, we can celebrate progress and also highlight the work that still needs to be done to create a more inclusive environment where all of our #TeamNP colleagues can thrive. We've included some fantastic feedback from our International Women's Day events below, but we'd love if you could share your thoughts too 💬 How did your workplace celebrate International Women's Day?
