We are going to "shock the world" - PayPal CEO Spoiler: they did not. Or did they? #Paypal stock fell last week due a "disappointing" Innovation day. I don't know what the world was expecting, but if this is not good enough then I don't know what our launch was (check us out IllumyFi 😜) PayPal announced for its product as well as Venmo some pretty cool new features: - #Fastlane allowing merchants to reduce time to pay (and thus abandoned carts); - #SmartRecipts to allow easier tracking of our spending - Advanced offers platform (read: data, data, data), a way for merchant to better target customers leveraging everything they are buying on the internet + "Pay for performance, not impression" which sounds incredibly good - #Cashpass, a cashback app that already has some incredible partners (McDonald's, Walmart, Uber to name a few) Paypal remains the most used app for transacting online and a superb #fintech company. Let's get hyped, but for real. Can't wait for these features to arrive to Europe!

Wow. This is a really great look at common sense improvements that make the shopping process easier for consumers and giving merchants more options for personalization and data. The 'smart' receipt with both tracking information and ai generated "what to buy next" from that retailer is a game-changer. The 'offers' platform will allow cross-retailer recommendations and new marketing opportunities for brands. Some of the App improvements are definitely inspired by ShopPay, but the notion of aggregating small businesses into one marketplace is a great idea no matter how many people do it. It will also be interesting to see what traction PayPal will get with their own loyalty vs. the merchant / brand programs available. Finally, a customer can choose if they share their data with merchants and will clearly understand what the value exchange can be...like I said, Wow. #payments #ai #commerce #loyalty https://lnkd.in/gjXZTDnG

As a naive PayPal shareholder, I think that this video fell short in couple of different ways 1. The presentation style was more Apple Like event, but I was missing concrete dates on when the features would be available to customers. I understand that its hard to commit on dates when its a year long plan, but as a shareholder i was missing a drive and commitment. 2. The team undervalued the value of PayPal brand and the impact of the excitement that its going to be big reveal. The excitement built was not justified by the features announced today. Yes, they are features, not an overwhelming re-imagination of PayPal brand IMO. Nothing would make me more happy if I am proven wrong 🙏 and the market sentiment goes back to positive with the execution and results from these improvements. 🤞 .
