I am a big fan of isolation in images. The story is simple, sure, but commonly compelling because of that simplicity. A lot of my landscape work achieves this through compression and the separation of fields. Macro, however, while certainly field heavy in its presentation, often benefits from color isolation. A simplified palette, smaller pieces clearly made more important through clarity and contrast, and an engaging image can likely be crafted. These four are good examples of that philosophy. All captured on the Tamron Americas #A065 70-180 f/2.8 VC VXD G2, our professional workhorse in a tiny package that just so happens to do some very nice proto-macro work at 70mm. Two of these images used supplemental lighting: the Small Block WR LED cube from ProMaster. An absolutely priceless tool when working up close and small. Two of the images were available light only. All were handheld at f/4. Good stabilization is priceless. Thanks to Butterfly Pavilion, Westminster, CO as usual, for being such kind hosts. I know: no butterflies, here! But their botany is also so good, it deserves its own post. Thanks, also, to Mike's Camera for inviting Tamron Lenses to come play at their macro classes. Working with your students is a blast... And the challenge to capture our own good images is always accepted 😁 #butterflypavilion #floral #flowertography #flowahs #flores #mymikescamera #withmytamron #tamronlenses #colorisking #macrophotography #70mm #bokehlicious #upclose
