Did you know we are doing advocacy work as a part of OAR’s “Upstream” efforts in social justice and liberation? At OAR, we want to change legislation, policies, and actions that institutionalize systemic racism and impose barriers to individuals impacted by the criminal legal system, so we do this through OAR’s Action Network. Participants and those with shared lived experiences are the idea generators for these efforts. We work with a lobbyist to track bills, conduct research, and more on critical legislation impacting the individuals and families with whom we are on the journey. Just 15 days into 2024, many of us are struggling to keep up with those aspirational new year's resolutions. I can't think of a better time to remember the legacy of a man who boldly fought against injustice and called out those on the sidelines. Today, as the New Year's Resolutions fade, let us remember that justice-for-all is not a goal we can afford to give up on as the year progresses.
