THE TRUTH ABOUT ADDING YOUR PHOTO TO YOUR CV Let's address the elephant in the room: the ongoing debate about whether to attach your photo to your CV. In a world where trends spread like wildfire, it's crucial to pause and reflect on their impact. While some may argue that a photo adds a personal touch, others caution against the unintended consequences. Here's the bottom line: unless explicitly requested by the employer, reconsider adding your picture. Why? Because your qualifications, skills, and experience should take center stage, not your appearance. Let's not forget the potential for bias and discrimination that could come with including a photo. By omitting it, you level the playing field and ensure fair evaluation based solely on merit. So, let's make a pact: unless it's a job requirement, let's keep the focus where it belongs - on your expertise and accomplishments. End

Name Discrimination: A Black Man’s Fight for Fair Employment Imagine being judged not by your qualifications or experience, but by the name on your resume. This is the harsh reality for many Black #professionals, as illustrated by a recent lawsuit that is both thought-provoking and alarming. In #Detroit, Michigan, Dwight Jackson, a Black man, has taken legal action against the Shinola Hotel, alleging blatant employment discrimination. According to the lawsuit obtained by CNN Jackson was initially denied an interview when he applied under his real name. However, when he resubmitted his application under the name "John Jebrowski," he was swiftly offered an interview. This case sheds light on a pervasive issue: the bias and discrimination that occur even before a candidate steps foot in the interview room. It raises urgent questions about the integrity of hiring practices and the deep-seated prejudices that still exist within our society. As we strive for #diversity and #inclusion, it's crucial to confront these uncomfortable truths. Dwight Jackson’s story is a stark reminder that there is still much work to be done to ensure equal opportunities for all, regardless of their name or background. It’s time for companies to take a hard look at their #hiring processes.

I couldnt agree more Gary Vaynerchuk. Again when will you be president??? I have been recruting for 30 years. I never employ on Qulifications. Attitude 1, Skills 2. Attitude NO employer can change. Ive terminated that many degree qualified little twerps with the worst attitdue because some moronic lecturer told them they were entitled. They have completed a 4 - 6 year course. BIG DEAL. I have NO degree (many qulifications post commencing work) yet built a company from zero over 6 years, now worth billions on the precious metal markets. They have zero skills and life experience. I would much rather employ somone with RAW ability, comittment and love for their job. These employees will walk through rings of fire without being asked and I reward them accordingly.

I guide Managers boost their self-belief 9X and communicate confidently to grow exponentially, without spending years & millions on management courses ❤️ 😇💰... | LOSS to LABH | Speaker | Author | Actor |
Only a #GaryVee can say and implement that. Most modern #leaders are not blessed like him. All (almost all) others are contemplating why look at #character and #skills? It is so much more easier to select (or is it reject) using an #ATS. The machines do so much for us in identifying #Talent using #keywords. Why to change that system. GaryVee can say anything. But how will machines assess Character & Integrity & #Attitude & Resilience? Does a machine have instinct? No. Does a machine have a gut feel? No. Identifying Talent without a resume is a rare Skill that rare people like GaryVee have. Identifying Talent is a Talent in itself. And put a hand to your heart and assess -- How many leaders that you know really have got that Talent? Till you answer that question, keep using resumes/ CV/Biodatas.

Sometimes I view them as a TL;DR of your resume. I wonder if you could use Chat GPT to write one for you based on resume with the jobs description. Any hiring managers or recruiters want to add their insight?

Three cheers for companies who don't ask you to reenter education and experience in addition to uploading your resume!!! Now, what about the cover letter? As an applicant and previous hiring manager, I'm not a fan. Anyone find them valuable? Tell me more -- how do you see it adding value to your application?
